Özil is definitely not Diego's replacement. I mean, he has a lot of talent, he's just 19 and maybe he'll become a great player in the future but calling him Diego's replacement would go much too far, comaparable to calling Aaron Hunt Diego's successor.

Carlos Alberto failed to integrate into Werder's team, he was injured, had sleeping difficulties and started fights with teammates in training. Now he's loaned to Sao Paulo and I doubt he'll ever come back.
How mush Werder paid for him?

Guys, Diego will be a great signing. Any choice between him and VDV would do me well. But I would lean towards the latter-he wont lose it in future, Dutch players rarely do. But then, thats just my opinion.

who do you see as his replacement in case he leaves? Do you see Bremen buying a guy that's worth 20/25m €+ or signing a player like you guys did with Diego when he was at Porto?

Hi everyone even during the January transfer Secco did not buy good quality players. Sissoka is not a very good quality player and bringing stendardo for 5 months with a 3 match ban is another mistake. And Ranieri is not a coach. He is insisting for these type of ploayers. He is buying players playing in England like Mellberg and he doesnt buy very good playes. He never gave much attention to the defence, even when he was with Chelsea. With Juventus he is playing the English game, with long through passes. With him we will never win anything. Even this year I am afraid we will not qualify to the CL with this defence and approach to the game. What do you say friend?

But we are conceding many goals and without Chiellini and Buffon we will not win another game especially against the big teams and those that are with us, likje Udinese and Fiorentina etc. Besides I am very worried the system Ranieri is playing, with those long through passes, the Enf=glish game.

yes, but if we fire Ranieri will buffon and Chiellini somehow magically come back? of course not. Besides we have been missing many important players since the start of the season, yet we are in third. I think we will fininsh in the top 4. I don't think the long balls should be a suprise. We used it for 2 seasons with Capello who had a much superior team. We are using it now because we don't really have the players to play anything else.

once our season is finished then we should re evaluate our options.

u don't know why ? he just messed up our last summer transfer budget on players that we don't need and left us short of defenders and full backs thats why
I wouldn't say that - last summer there was a specific situation at club, we needed not expensive and risky signings due to insufficient number of players and lack of big money for transfers (imagine we have spent 27 million euro for a player, who became a flop in Serie A... It would be a financial disaster now), but rather cheap players, however of proven quality. So Tiago, who had a very good season at Lyon, and Almiron, also brilliant season at Empoli (in addition he's a player who played in Serie A for years) were chosen - and they definetly are players of proven quality, so it was a natural choice, of course not a transfer impact, but also movements on the market of the smallest risk. Not to mention Andrade and Iaquinta, similiar-type buyings. But who could presume Tiago and Almiron would become such mistakes? Secco did what he should, but these players didn't show the quality they presented in recent clubs. What I can say positive about Secco is also the way how quickly he reacts - Boumsong became a flop, is sold (could be sold in the summer, but he didn't wanted to leave Turin), Almiron became a flop - is loaned with an option to sell him, Tiago became a flop and would have been sold if he had accepted a move to Tottenham...

But he's of coure not an ideal sport director, for example the negotiations with Lyon in Boumsong case were scandalous in my opinion and there are undoubtly many other questions, such as Sissoko's price, which shouldn't be highet than 10 million euro.

And a word about "lack of creativity in the midfiled". Roma has a lot of creativity in the midfield. But ironically non-creative Juve is a club that scored more goals than the roman club so far this season. Though it's a pleasure to watch Roma's style of football, I prefer this lack of creativity and more goals.

I mean Werder should not spend 4.5 million for 4 months, his contract with Schalke was expiring
That's not true, Turk. His contract with Schalke would have lasted until 2009.

who do you see as his replacement in case he leaves? Do you see Bremen buying a guy that's worth 20/25m €+ or signing a player like you guys did with Diego when he was at Porto?
I cannot imagine Werder spending 20m € on one player. Diego was bought as a replacement of Johan Micoud who was as important to the team as Diego is now, so Werder will try to find a cheap, but clever solution once again. And only if that doen't work out, they will think of spending some more for a proven player.
The ideal solution would be if one of the youngsters like Özil, Hunt or Harnik make a huge step. They will have a real chance to prove themselves now that Borowski is leaving.
