Diego hopes for Real deal
Tuesday 18 March, 2008

Diego is set to snub Juventus in the hope of joining Real Madrid, according to the Brazilian star’s father.

The midfield ace is winning plaudits in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen where he has found the net 10 times so far this term.

Juve sporting director Alessio Secco met with Diego yesterday to discuss a possible move to Turin in the summer, but it seems that his heart is elsewhere.

“Diego would like to play for Real Madrid, but I can tell you that there are no negotiations at the moment,” Diego’s father Djair da Cunha said.

“If Real were interested then I would be able to discuss things for sure, but we will have to wait for the end of the season.”

There may be a twist in the tale, however, as Real’s sporting director Pedja Mijatovic told Marca last week that the Merengues aren’t interested in adding Diego to the ranks.

This should not worry us much, as many agents do those kind of things and start talking everywhere just in order to put price up.

It would be silly to talk about selling a player if only 1 or 2 teams are interested, so im not worried about this..
Also as Chester put nicely, would he really be in starting 11? Does he want to be bench warmer, or to play 90% of games in Juve and enjoy playing.

It is not about money only, and even if werder is the team who is selling him, it might happen the same as with Tiago and Tottenham, when Tiago did not want to join the spurs.

Wait and pray :)
I hope werder screw up in the Bundesliga and miss the CL-Spot (they currently are 1 point behind a CL-Qualification-Spot (Leverkusen)) and they got Schalke at their back (2 points behind). I'm confident that they don't make it :) That will make transfer talks SOOOOO much easier :D

JUVENTUS, Diego says no
18.03.2008 15.24 by Redazione TMW read 140
Werder Bremen brazilian has said his "no" to Juventus, making know that in Germany he feels good and would change only in one case: "In Bremen I'm happy, I have a contract and I respect supporters. And if I should go away, would be only for Real Madrid". Welt am Sonntag would have revealed that exist an agreement still reached between the player and spanish society.

In occasion of the last renewal signed for another season seems that Diego would have imposed to Werder a clause, that would prevent to the german society to hold him in case of a big offer coming from a great club.

U did exaggerate "a little"...For that kind of money you can get Diego (22 years) & Aguero (20 years) = (70m€) and still got 20m€ left...
But Madrid has Robinho, Roben, Snjader as "playmakers" so i don't see them dish out 30m€+ for Diego...
If Real Madrid or Chelsea really want a player then they will surely dish out that amount of money. Even if they have the likes of Robben, Sneijder, Robinho, Ballack, Lampard, SWP, Joe Cole.

PS: We should make a bid for Malouda, he hasn't really settle at Chelsea and I think that he isn't cut out for the EPL. He can probably replace Nedved at the left.

I also agree that Amauri isn't a WC player. I have a feeling that he will become a flop just like Gilardino.

Heh. Our club has become one of those "unfashionable" ones where the superstars don't really aspire to join

F*ck them. Well make our own stars. I'd rather see 100 Giovinco's than Mr. "I-have-wet-dreams-about-Real-Madrid" players in our squad.

Dont think this is the case here. I think south american players (perhaps all of them admire spanish giants barca and madrid). VdV did everything to join us :bigscarf:

I was just teasing Dule, as he uses this expression whenever he mentions Lampard...
But still, I don't want him at Juve...we need far better solutions...

You mean "my-dad-has-wet-dreams-about-Real-Madrid"-players. Most of the rumours around Diego are 100%-made up. They can be turned down by the simple facts of watching Diego's training appearances and stuff. When should all this have taken place?

I doubt Diego will leave Werder before 2009 since he's constantly repeating that he wants to stay in Bremen and the only really talking about a move is his dad.

lol good one! :)
Honestly though, latest news say that he won't move and i'm pretty convinced about that too. You know how the media is, especially the spanish one; marca probably phoned his manager/father and asked him something like "would diego like to play for madrid one day", and then he probably answered something like "madrid is a good club with excellent players and everyone wants to play for them", and there you go; headline "Diego wants real". I can only imagine something like that, because everyone, really everyone, diego himself, werder bremen AND real madrid keep repeating that there was no contact and so on... this is just media-hype. I doubt he'll move this season, but IF he does, i think we have a chance of getting him!
