Giovinco is a very versatile player and can play as a; Attacking Midfielder, Supporting Striker or Left Winger (Nedved's Replacement if you wish to call it that way). So I believe it can work.

PS: But if Diego doesn't arrive I would love to have Hatem Ben Arfa as Nedved's replacement. He is young and talented. Secco should offer Tiago(€12million)+ Boumsong(€3million)+€10million euros for Ben Arfa
Hell, why not throw in Buffon and Trezeguet as well ;)

So what is the probability of Diego joining? A close link I'm sure, but a liklihood of being gazumped by another team who will struggle to fit him in regularly is one scenario. If we can agree a fee with Werder Bremen then the lad should see sense and realise he has a chance to play regularly with one of the biggest clubs in the world and become a star.

Porto sold Pepe for 30 million.

They'll demand at least the same amount for Quaresma.

still he would be a fantastic purchase.
Well the fact that Quaresma only has a year left on his contract after the summer means that Porto are going be forced to sell and they will sell once they receive the best offer. I personally think that he will be sold for around €20million euros or so. Plus Chelsea is no longer interested since Mourhino left. Benitez is very interested on him but I doubt the owners would be unwilling to fund for the transfer since they haven't refinance yet. Atletico Madrid were interested and I think that they will try again.

aahh didn't know he had only one year left. well I wouldn't mind not getting Diego/VDV if we get Quaresma. Any of them would be nice.

----------------Zanetti------
----Camo--------------------Nocerino(marchisio)

-Quaresma/Diego--Trez--DP (Gio)

that would be a great.

Inter To Hijack Juve’s Diego Deal?

Inter Milan may attempt to hijack Juventus’ attempts to sign Werder Bremen star Diego, according to Tuttosport.

The Brazilian is one of the best playmakers in Europe, and is currently the top scorer of the German Bundesliga this season with 10 goals.

The Gazzetta dello Sport today claimed that Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco was in Germany yesterday trying to negotiate a deal to bring Diego to Turin in the summer.

The Bianconeri have been heavily linked with the star for a few months now, however it is reported that Secco is only willing to pay €20m and not the €25m that Bremen are demanding.

Inter may take advantage of this, with Coach Roberto Mancini said to be an admirer of the 22-year-old.

Mancini wants to bring some more technical quality into the midfield for next season, as his most creative player Luis Figo is all set to retire from football.

Diego shot to fame in Brazil as a 17-year-old when he formed a devastating partnership at Santos with current Real Madrid star Robinho. The duo led the team to the Brazilian Championship in 2002.

oh c mon Inter again? They are constantly making an intrusion where we have an interest,
they were always doing that and hoped that money could buy them glory and success
and they always managed to buy only the mercenaries...
One way or another a war of bits is expected on Diego, thats why we dont stand many chances, dont get your hopes high...

Inter pose Diego threat Tuesday 22 January, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Italian champions Inter have reportedly joined Juventus in the race to sign Werder Bremen fantasista Diego.

The two Italian giants will clash in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night, but they may have to battle it out on the transfer market for the talented Brazilian come the summer.

Diego has attracted the attention of the Old Lady this season after his 10 League goals for Werder have seen him rise to the top of the Bundesliga scoring charts.

Respected Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed today that sporting director Alessio Secco was in Germany on Monday to start talks.

However, whispers coming out of Milan today are suggesting that the Nerazzurri are ready to hijack the deal at the request of boss Roberto Mancini.

Inter will lose Luis Figo in the summer and his departure will leave a massive hole in the squad when it comes to inventiveness, a void which the 22-year-old has the potential to fill.

Meanwhile, Secco has admitted that the club are close to landing the Premiership duo of Olof Mellberg – Aston Villa’s versatile defender – and Liverpool’s Mohamed Sissoko.

"Mellberg is close to signing a preliminary agreement with Juventus," Secco told Italian and British journalists.

"If everything goes well, he will become a Juve player in July. There are still minor things left to discuss before he signs the deal."

While Secco seemed to rule out an immediate Mellberg arrival despite the injury to Giorgio Chiellini, he couldn’t do the same when asked about the Mali youngster.

"He is a player that we are interested in," added Secco. “We haven't ruled out the possibility of him joining us in the winter transfer window. We will see."

Sissoko will be needed as Sergio Almiron is on the verge of joining Monaco and Tiago Mendes may also be sold, with Atletico Madrid the latest side said to be keen on the Portuguese flop.
