Inter Moving In On Diego - Report

Inter Milan are closing in on the signing of Werder Bremen star Diego, according to Controcampo.

Talk in the Italian press has intensified in recent days that Diego is set to move to the Nerazzurri this summer.

Inter have identified a creative centre midfielder as one of their main transfer targets, and believe that the Brazilian can help them make a big impact in the Champions League.

Controcampo says that Diego’s father and agent has been sneakily declaring in the press that Real Madrid and Juventus are interested in signing his son, so that Inter would have free reign to negotiate a transfer for themselves.

Massimo Moratti, who is also expected to drop out of the race to sign Ronaldinho, is prepared to meet Werder Bremen’s asking price of €30m.

Diego has had a wonderful season in the German Bundesliga, and is his side’s top-scorer with 13 goals.

The 23-year-old is also a regular in the Brazil national team, and has won 34 caps, scoring six goals.

Diego rejects Juve move Thursday 24 April, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Werder Bremen fantasista Diego has declared his intention to stay at the German club despite heavy interest from Juventus.

The Brazilian has, along with Hamburg's Rafael Van Der Vaart, been repeatedly linked with the Turin giants as an answer to their creative deficiencies in midfield.

“I've played my best years since joining Werder, getting back into the national team. I feel really good here and I don't see why I should leave,” said the Selecao star.

“I still have three years on my contract. Perhaps I'll stay until the end and I want to be here for at least another season,” finished the 23-year-old.

Undeterred, Juventus are incredibly busy in the transfer market preparing for next season's increasingly likely return to Champions League football.

Corriere dello Sport has today reported that the Bianconeri are edging ever closer to signing Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini and Brazilian striker Amauri from Palermo.

More intriguing are reports regarding Juventus' interest in a string of defenders, most notably Bayern Munich left-back Philipp Lahm and Tottenham's Younes Kaboul.

According to Corriere a deal for Kaboul would involve the exchange of Juve's out of favour Portuguese international Tiago plus a fee of around £4m.

It's no cause for concern because he didnt really reject us, it would of been worse if he said "no, i don't want to join juve and del piero stinks".. In any case it's a dream that will never come to fruition so theres no real point reading to much into anything written about Diego

I don't know why but I think that if we buy him for Big $$$ he'll end up being a bust. boh!

might be my pessimistic approach or the drugs. :D

I guess I won't worry about that if he ends up at Real.

With us reportedly signing Amauri, we don't need Berbatov.
:agree: contrary to common thought, i believe we are far from finalising anything with Amauri as teams will show interest and Zampa will do something stupid that we all expect him to do.. If we were to miss out on Amauri (which i think we will, call me a pesimist or whatever) Berbatov would be an entertaining thought

thay can take Tiago and give us Bale , dat's a great deal Bale will be one of the best LB in the world soon
and ther are another 30 young "potentially" great LBs.. I'm not saying ur wrong but the term is used way to loosely to mean any significance watsoever.. Ur also forgetting De Ceglie who is the next maldini, well aparently.. In all seriousness tho, Bale is unneccessary when we have DeCeglie

Hmmm, except a small detail like...Berbatov being TWICE the player Amauri is.

If it was between them in the same conditions, that both are probable and realistic signing with similar deal, then not choosing Berbatov is suicidal. But Berba the magician is pricey, and more unrealistic target, while Amauri is an easy target to get.
