So? His last season was a damn good one with Atletico and he made sure he impressed at the world's biggest stage so clubs and media alike were convinced about his abilities hence the sudden interest.

He's been great in La Liga every season and he carried mediocre teams into winning the EL and semi finals in the WC. He's also one of the contenders for Ballon D'or in the end of the year. What else should he do to be considered one of the best players in the world?

Mate, he scored 20+ goals in every season except one since he moved to Spain, not to mention that last two seasons he scored 35 and 30 goals respectively. If that's not enough for a striker, I don't know what is then. For 10m + Iaquinta, I'd sign him in a heartbeat.

He is also over 30 and is expensive. He will have to be replaced soon as will all our other forwards. That is my problem. We need continuity, not a drastic changing of the squad every season.

He is a bit expensive, yes. I wouldn't pay 20m+ in cash for him either. But as I said in my previous post, if Atletico accepted 10m + Iaquinta, we should not hesitate to sign him. He would give us three good seasons at least. We would give away only 10m and a useless striker in Iaquinta, and we would get a great striker in return, even if it was for 3-4 years.

You can't really compare Xavi, Robben and Sneijder to Forlan. And Messi and Ronaldo are clearly way better than him, but they wouldn't cost less than 50m, even if they were as old as Forlan.

I would prefer Dzeko over Forlan too. But Dzeko isn't gonna come for less than 35m imo, and that would mean no other new players during this summer. And we clearly need 3-4 more reinforcements as Del Neri also said.

And I completely agree with you there. If he was in his 20's, then there would be more interest, but now he's only going to decline.

10M + Iaquinta would be great deal. Remember how Ale was when he was 31? In 2005. Remember how he still won the Capocannoniere three years later at 34? Forlan is one of the best players in the world and he & DP have many similar strenghts. Forlan would be great for us at least for a few years.

Dia is not better than any of those players. Dia is Ligue's Quagliarella imo, he scores amazing goals and has moments of brilliance here and there, which makes people overrate him. All in all he's a good player for a Ligue team, but thats about it. Gignac, Gameiro and Mevlut come second only to the likes of Lisandro and Niang in the Ligue.

We dont need g great forward we need a great finisher. In spain strikers get far more scoring chances than they get in the average league. Also speed and tehnique are appreciate more than everything else, this create the ideal conditions for south American talents to flourish.
But in Italy things are very different, strikers get far less chances to score and have to be extra prolific and Italian coaches demand less flips and more dìscipline on the demanding tactical orders. Forlan in EPL has been proved inefficient on that department imo and althought he has matured to quality forward, he will surely wont be able to make the difference in Italy and offer what Amauri cant. We need a dedicated finisher like Treze to complete Amauri and help us with our finishing issues.

I Understand ur point that his age is a problem,BUT our main problem in the last few years (Specially after Calciopoli) n what we all agree is that we are losing our confindence in ourselvs + we don't have the charachter of a big team we had anymore,so to regain all that rapidly we need to win trophies,bringing a world class finisher like Forlan can make us regain our Glory in one year,YES ONLY ONE YEAR by winning both Scudetto n Europa league or even just Scudetto is enough.Thus we really don't need Forlan more than one or two years.

Bringing a young ST,will really give us continuity but we have to wait 2 or 3 years till we win silverware.

I purely believe in giving younger ppl a chance but not in one of the sensitive positions like ST,plaumaker or DMC.Give them chances in other positions like wings,fullbacks.
