Didier Deschamps does not believe that Juventus can immediately win the Scudetto after their return to Serie A.
FIAT President Luca Cordero Di Montezemolo stated that he was confident the Old Lady could immediately win the League title, setting an unprecedented record, but the Coach prefers to keep his feet on the ground.
“I think it’s impossible for us to win the Scudetto in a year’s time,” Deschamps told Juventus Channel.
“This is true not because of our problems, but because Roma, Inter and Milan have the advantage and will strengthen their sides this summer,” added the Frenchman.
“We will try to be competitive, but I don’t think we can win. We are playing the Serie B and we can sign some new players, but this doesn’t change the fact that other clubs are favoured,” concluded the Bianconero.
Gianluigi Buffon also believes that it will be very difficult to be immediately competitive at the highest levels, although he appreciates Montezemolo’s optimism.
“It is right for a man like him to dream of winning the Scudetto, this is the attitude needed to obtain important results,” said the world champion.
“However, many years and an important project are needed to win. Either you discover the new Ronaldinho, as Giovanni Cobolli Gigli said, or you need to invest heavily.
“Qualifying for the Champions League would be like our real Scudetto next year,” ended the former Parma man.
