Zebrette lock up Zapata
Udinese are fighting off Fiorentina’s advances for talented stopper Cristian Zapata, according to the player’s agent.
Colombian star Zapata has attracted interest from a number of top sides, including Juventus, with his impressive performances at the heart of the Friulani defence.
The 21-year-old is also on Fiorentina’s shopping list, but the Bianconeri are unwilling to sell him to a direct rival in the Champions League qualification race.
“Zapata is my client and I am working very hard on his behalf because he is a such a talented player,” Daniele Vidal said on Teleradiostereo.
“He is happy in Udine and he is playing well there so it’s only natural that there is interest from big sides.
“I know that last summer Fiorentina made an offer, but it didn’t meet Udinese’s expectations and I still don’t think that they want to sell him to a side at the same level in the table.
“That’s why I think that Udinese would be more likely to consider a bigger side.
“I won’t name names, but I know that there are some big foreign clubs after Cristian and Spain, Italy and England are all equal to him.
“However, Udinese see him as very important so he may stay with the Zebrette in the long-term, but we will only know more in the summer.”
