Barzagli is soon to be 27, when will he be stopped being considered a talent? This is it and it/he stinks. Yes, Barzagli stinks.

No, he is a good defender but far from world class. And there are far better defenders in Italy than him, Zapata for instance. I know he gave some good displays for Italian NT but I can tell you one thing: Put Legrottaglie of this season net to Cannavaro/Nesta and he will perform world class. A defender like Bonera can look great next to Nesta. This season Barzagli has been average, not bad, but neither he set Serie A on fire. If we want a defensive wall for the future, Zapata is the man, not Barzagli.

No Zapata move, says agent Tuesday 22 January, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cristian Zapata’s representative has insisted that the Udinese defender will not be leaving the club during the January transfer window.

The Colombian has been paired with a variety of top-flight sides and again caught the eye on Sunday when he gave Milan new boy Alexandre Pato a demonstration of how tough Italian football can be.

Although agent Andrea D’Amico confirmed that a string of outfits do like his client, he would be shocked if a move occurred before the summer.

“I’m not surprised that Zapata is of interest to big clubs like Milan, but Udinese’s stance on the issue is clear,” he noted on Tuesday evening.

“The club consider him as a jewel in this squad and they have no intention of depriving themselves of his services for the time being.

“I can also state that I am unaware of any negotiations going on for him or even of any concrete contact between clubs.”

Zapata is widely considered as one of Serie A’s most promising young stoppers and he’s been associated with Milan, Inter, Fiorentina and Juventus over the last 24 months.

Zebrette lock up Zapata

Udinese are fighting off Fiorentina’s advances for talented stopper Cristian Zapata, according to the player’s agent.

Colombian star Zapata has attracted interest from a number of top sides, including Juventus, with his impressive performances at the heart of the Friulani defence.

The 21-year-old is also on Fiorentina’s shopping list, but the Bianconeri are unwilling to sell him to a direct rival in the Champions League qualification race.

Zapata is my client and I am working very hard on his behalf because he is a such a talented player,” Daniele Vidal said on Teleradiostereo.

He is happy in Udine and he is playing well there so it’s only natural that there is interest from big sides.

“I know that last summer Fiorentina made an offer, but it didn’t meet Udinese’s expectations and I still don’t think that they want to sell him to a side at the same level in the table
.

That’s why I think that Udinese would be more likely to consider a bigger side.

I won’t name names, but I know that there are some big foreign clubs after Cristian and Spain, Italy and England are all equal to him.

“However, Udinese see him as very important so he may stay with the Zebrette in the long-term, but we will only know more in the summer
.”

Quag is over rated, besides we still have Palla!!
Di Natale should join us instead of Iaquinta and its too late now to make up our minds...
Zapata would be good, but Secco isnt competent enough, to make this happen...
