I dont get what the whole deal is here. Trezeguet just got his first 90 minute serie A start in the longest time. After having to deal with a lot emotionally and physically on the back of an injury laden season. What dont the Trez bashers get here? He isnt the trequertista, he doesnt need to be doing any of the running or falling back to help the team. I'd rather feel like we're playing a man down and be a goal up, than the other way around. The one and only job he is given when his name is on that teamsheet, is to score. Very clearly, he's not at his best. But that's a function of confidence, not physicality or incompetence. His confidence comes from finding the back of the net, not distributing the ball or helping in defence. Everything about his game depends upon his strike rate. Sure, tonight wasn't pretty. But weeks from now, only one thing will count: the goal!
Form is temporary, class is permanent. Just be patient with him, he needs to find his groove and synchronise it with the pace of this team. He's not had the continuity a striker of his level is used to, and that's what made him shaky. Once he finds that momentum and his feet find their rythmn, I assure you, he will be well positioned for the capocannoniere crown. This season marks the return of the king.

I saw an interview with him after the Roma match I think it was. I think it was when he first mentioned he's leaving after this season. You should have seen how uncomfortable he was. He put on his best face to seem upbeat and concentrated, and he said all the right things, but it was obvious he didn't feel comfortable.
Trez has been with us for now 10 years and this right now is his biggest challenge in his time at Juve. Ever since he beat Inzaghi noone has even come close to stealing his place. And now Amauri is really good, Iaquinta is too, and it couldn't come at a worse time, coinciding with the most serious injury in his career. He's also been haunted for years by the moron Domenech and finally had to capitulate. Basically, it's all hanging by a thread at the moment, and that explains his lack of confidence and his very emotional celebration tonight. He wasn't celebrating the goal, he was celebrating his return. Hopefully a return that will materialize fully.

I don't want to interfere in the 'battle of the mods '... but I want to point out a single fact:
Trezeguet has not played in a competitive match (not to mention a real battle as today) in probably more than 18 months. This is the same guy that knows a lot about the soul of our club, team spirit and goals (since he is going to make 10 years soon in the club), he loves the club with his heart (a rather epic example, especially Seria B years in the current $ driven times) and HE KNOWS BETTER THAN ELVIN THAT HE SUCKS ATM.
So is it hard to understand that a striker, with 9 years experience at Juve, with a >0.58 goals per game ratio, has stress-related issues and self-confidence problems?
Not in my book it isn't. That is why this half-own, most ridiculous and 'ugly' goal is actually quite significant. In my book Trezeguet is a striker that still has 3 fruitful. '100%' years ahead of him. I am not fooling myself - whether Monaco or Olympique Lyon - these people don't waste their money and know a bit more about football than anyone of us, even Elvin. They would not go for an old unsellable star, unless he is consistent and has something to offer - and does it quite better than their 'young guns'. So the only question that remains is: "Is the new 100% Trezeguet be equal to the 100% Old Trezeguet?' Don't know, but considering his game I would say he would definitely hit the 90% mark.
P.S. And yet we haven't seen him partnered up front by none other than Il Capitano. They might not look top-shape these days, but with those twos it is always a safer bet that they would perform, rather that they wouldn't....ohh. sweet memories...

Also, like you have mentioned, he has been one of the "faces" of juve in this 2000 decade. He went with us to serie B, when he easy could have been in barcelona right now.
At least he deserves to go out from the front door instead of the backdoor. He deserves some praise. He is a legend in Juventus, and is the kind of striker that makes the fans explode with his "out of nowhere" goals.
