The Premier League club's board, who have already secured the services of Wayne Bridge since the transfer window opened, have now set their sights on the 31-year-old Frenchman, goal.com reports.
Trezeguet's current contract runs until 2011, but having only just returned to training following surgery in September he has fallen down the pecking order at the Serie A club.
Despite making good progress he will struggle to win back his place, with the likes of Alessandro Del Piero, Amauri, Vincenzo Iaquinta and Sebastian Giovinco to contend with. Moreover the reported £6m-a-season pay package may also play a part in luring him away.
Trezeguet had operations on both knees after suffering a serious tendon injury in the first match of this season's Champions League. He had hoped to return to action at the start of the new year but has been told he must wait for an all-clear from his surgeon later this month.
Regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, Trezeguet signed for Juventus in 2000 and has since averaged a goal every other game. He played for the French senior team for a decade before announcing his international retirement in July last year.
