Manchester City are preparing a surprise £20 million offer to land Juventus striker David Trezeguet, according to a report.

The Premier League club's board, who have already secured the services of Wayne Bridge since the transfer window opened, have now set their sights on the 31-year-old Frenchman, goal.com reports.

Trezeguet's current contract runs until 2011, but having only just returned to training following surgery in September he has fallen down the pecking order at the Serie A club.

Despite making good progress he will struggle to win back his place, with the likes of Alessandro Del Piero, Amauri, Vincenzo Iaquinta and Sebastian Giovinco to contend with. Moreover the reported £6m-a-season pay package may also play a part in luring him away.

Trezeguet had operations on both knees after suffering a serious tendon injury in the first match of this season's Champions League. He had hoped to return to action at the start of the new year but has been told he must wait for an all-clear from his surgeon later this month.

Regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, Trezeguet signed for Juventus in 2000 and has since averaged a goal every other game. He played for the French senior team for a decade before announcing his international retirement in July last year.

I love Trez, but to be honest I would sell him for that kind of money in a blink.
Unlike Gigi, Trez is [already] replaceable.
i don't no man, this would be a hard one. I would hate to see him go but i understand what you mean.

If we would get Given than i would not mind selling Buffon for £50 mil.
Also there are rumors that we are after Owen and ready to pay £6 mil

Well to an extent Gigi has been replaced as well.Manninger has really exceeded expectations but it doesnt mean Juventus should sell players that have broken all sorts of records & stuck with the club during serie b.

Thats just my take on it,i just prefer it if Trez retires at Juventus.

Ok, then lets sell Trezeguet and Buffon, we will get 70 mil. We will buy Given and Owen for lets say 15mil maybe?? So after we buy them Owen will play for 4 games, score 2 goals and on the fifth game his knee will get fucked up. And as for Given?? Shiiiiit, i can see a thread right now saying "Is Given the biggest mistake we made, bigger than Almiron even??"

Well, Manny just over-performed tbh (Juventus factor).
Buffon is expected to be Juventus #1 for at least 8-10 more seasons at the high level. I don't think Manny would manage anything close to that level for that long.

As I said, there is already a good enough replacement for Trezeguet in Amauri.

Did you read my post FFS? I said unlike Gigi, Trez is replaceable. And only for that much amount selling him would be the right thing.

I quoted you because of what you said about Trez not Gigi. I dont like the idea of Trez being sold.

I don't like it either, but it would be logical to let him go for that amount.

Whatever, probably bullshit rumor anyway...
Da, i think so too. I bet there is a thread "Man City after our...." on all the other football forums. I hate Man City.
