I'd have to agree with both of you. Much bigger number of the voters on goal.com, apart from being 15, are probably Juve fans than Viola fans.

But even though i agree that Batistuta was a better player, the difference wasn't big at all. Both share very similar record (Batistuta has 0.58 goals per match while playing for Italian teams, Trezeguet has 0.60 goals per match while playing for Juve), both spent a year in serie B and both rarely missed a goalscoring oportunity.
Batistuta's advantage was , imo, that he knew how to score out of nowhere while for Trez it always has to be a created chance in order to score. And Batigol was more technical than Trez.
Yeah, my reasoning is simply that Batistuta was a more rounded player.

A year ago I would have said Batistuta no question's asked, he had it all and was quite simply one of the best strikers ever, just behind my personal nr.1 Shearer. However this year Trezeguet has...well, improved and a lot. He's not the same striker he was, I don't know if it's the year in Serie B, the determination to stick it to Domenech or what not but I like what I see. More involved in the play, goes out wide to open space for others, almost never goes offside...

OK, I'd still give the nudge to Batistuta as a better player but as a goal scorer, I'm somewhat undecided. Trez's impact in Serie A is not to be looked on lightly.

Trezeguet: Demotion To Serie B Unjust

Goal-machine David Trezeguet says that Juventus did not deserve to be relegated to Serie B after Calciopoli, while he also has words of praise for the in-form Alessandro Del Piero.

Calciopoli

The Bianconeri were demoted to Serie B and had the two Scudetti they won under Fabio Capello revoked following the Calciopoli crisis in 2006.

Juve suffered a great deal from this experience, losing a whole host of world-class players, and in an interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport, Trezeguet was asked if the reason the team has scored so many late goals this season is because they are determined and angry about what has happened.

"We are a team that has suffered a Serie B championship that we did not deserve,” said Trezeguet.

Now that we are back to normality, and our usual size, we have a great desire to do well.

Serie B has reinforced our mentality, which is to always believe and want to win until the end. We are not angry - we are stronger.”

30 Goals?

Trezeguet has been in prolific form this season and is currently top-scorer in Serie A with 15 goals.

This has led to talk that he may be able to match Luca Toni’s campaign in 2005/06 when the then Fiorentina man became the first player in almost 50 years to score more than 30 goals in the Italian top-flight.

"Maybe,” said Trezeguet.

What Toni did was extraordinary and I would say unique. It will be very difficult. But it is important that Del Piero and Iaquinta are scoring as well.”

Del Piero

Trezeguet’s striker partner Del Piero has been in great form of late, and the Frenchman has nothing but praise for his team-mate.

Ale is the player most in-form of the moment,” he stated.

He goes to get the ball in midfield in order to start the attack. We can see that he is in good shape not only physically but also mentally.”

Trezeguet glum about his Euro 2008 prospects

ROME, Feb 2 (Reuters) - Juventus striker David Trezeguet said he is unlikely to be at Euro 2008 because France coach Raymond Domenech does not have faith in him.

"I have given an important contribution to the national team, but the conditions no longer exist to continue, because this coach has made other choices," Trezeguet, Serie A's top scorer with 15 goals, told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"So I would not bet a euro on my presence at the European championships."

The forward said he turned down a place in Domenech's squad for two friendlies in Spain next week because he believed he would be used in Tuesday's 'A' fixture with Democratic Republic of Congo, rather than in Wednesday's first team game against Spain.

"I would like to be useful but I can't do that as a fifth-choice forward, like I was at the last World Cup," said Trezeguet, who was also part of the France team that won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.

"Two months locked inside waiting for someone to get hurt -- it's not for me."

He added: "It's also a question of motivation. I would have gone to the end of the world 10 years ago, but not now at 30, after everything I have done and continue to do."

good stuff on david's part. kindly decline for obvious reasons and do it with class.

this is the 1st step in severing all ties with the NT until domenech is ultimately fired.

its serie A and its the highest level so its domenech's own self-inflicted ignorance being shown on the european stage.

at the end of the day as many posters here have stated:

its better that trez focus on juve than on a EC08 that he will have minimal impact on.

also can someone post a pic of his supposed "hot sister" plz :D

trez all the way, his finishes are absolutely superb, when you look that compilation of his 100 goals in serie A it's just sick the way he scores goals inside of the penalty area

and yeah, shearer is the shit, one of my favourite players

Batistuta has to be the best striker in the world during his days, trezeguet may be the better poacher, but overall, strike record included, I would say Batistuta on his best form would be Trez on his best any day..
