Trez: I have nothing to prove
Friday, Oct 13, 2006

France striker David Trezeguet has insisted he has nothing to prove after returning to form with two goals for France in their 5-0 win over the Faroe Isles.

The Juventus man, who turns 29 on Sunday, had been slated by the French press after a largely anonymous performance in the 1-0 defeat to Scotland last Saturday, though did his best to brush off the criticism.

"After Scotland, there was debate surrounding me. It was claimed I didn't have the quality to play in the France team. Everybody has their opinion, but in any case, I don't read the papers, and what people say about my performances doesn't bother me."

Trezeguet's strike partner, Thierry Henry, came out in support of his beleaguered team-mate, insisting that he could not be expected to perform well after receiving such poor service, and Trezeguet's appreciation of the Arsenal man's comments was evident.

"I am mentally strong and I'm proud to have team-mates of this quality.

"To play at the highest level is not to doubt yourself. I have nothing to prove, I have won over 60 caps with France, I have been in the team since 1998, and have won everything with it - the World Cup, the European Championships. The only thing I have to do is thank my colleagues."

Is it just me or is it rather funny that Monsieur Deschamps and Trezegol celebrate birthday the same day?

Anyway, happy B-day to them and we all know what we want to them!

A long and succesful stay at Juventus and a victory today, of course!

Trez has promotion priority Friday 20 October, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

David Trezeguet says he is not focusing on the number of goals he scores. “I only want to return to Serie A,” declared the Juventus striker.

The French international had expressed his desire to leave the Old Lady after their demotion, but is now just focusing on getting the Italian giants back into the top flight.

“Serie B was difficult to accept for everyone – the players, the club and the supporters,” said Trezeguet in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The technical level is lower than Serie A, but there is more competitive spirit. We want to return to the First Division and we will do so if we continue playing as a team.”

The No 17 is currently the top scorer in Serie B with five goals, but says that personal records are not a priority. “I don’t care about the number of goals scored, I just want Serie A,” he noted.

“As for my former teammates, I have to admit that I miss them even if we speak often,” he continued.

“Juve broke into many pieces after the World Cup, but I don’t consider the players who left traitors as I would have been one of them if the club had not blocked me.”

There is talk in Turin that Juve want Trezeguet to sign a new contract, but the former Monaco man isn’t ready to commit.

I hope that dp have the same openion and focus on juve winning and not his 200 goal
