agree. Caldara always looked better to me, we made the wrong choice in sticking with Daniele imo

no idea what he was doing on the 2nd goal either
I guess we should have shipped Higuain and Rugani to Chelsea in a package deal and kept Caldara. Selling Benatia was just a troll move from Paratici to shit in our mouths.

That's his first serious error since the beginning of the season. He has been spot on for pretty much the entire season. Rugani is falling apart.
Yeah. Rugani looking super exposed when not playing alongside Chiellini or Bonucci.

Needs a experienced top CB to hold his hand. Absolutely needs to step it up and be far more aggressive. He's regressed terribly over the last couple months.

that should have been it. and then we could have still bought Bonucci if that was so important to Allegri. but in hindsight, ideally we would have sold Mehdi in the summer together with Higuain, kept Caldara and Rugani, and see who of the 2 is more ready to be 3rd choice

I'd say he's never been far above this level. There's just nowhere to hide with these injuries and we've given teams the blueprint to hurt us by showing how inept our midfield and defence is (without Chiellini)

But why are we even thinking of offering a new contract when he needs to constantly have his hand help? He is the furthest thing from a leader of all our CBs. He isn't the ferocious type either. He sucks at 1v1. He can't pass nearly as well as Bonucci. He will never tackle like Chiellini. He sometimes scores and can head the ball well. LIterally, that's all I can think of.

But his italian and young for defender (24). In Italy that is.

Meanwhile look at Varane who is only a year older. Back to back CL winner starter and World cup winner starter.

Nah. He was very good for us the last two years, rock solid positionally, and didn't put a foot wrong for the most part.

Unfortunately, he's looking pretty poor right now, especially since the Benatia transfer, seems to be struggling with the pressure of being No 1 Juve defender and having to step up in the absence of Bonucci-Chiellini. SO a bit of a mental weakling, it seems.

With the right partner, can be a very effective defender. Now, it depends on whether you want to tied to a defender who needs a perfect complement in his CB partner to be effective. It suggests that you have to possess at least two such perfect partners, if not 3, in the squad to cover for injuries. It's tough to have defenders so reliant on a specific type of partner on the backline to express their best.

Paratici has his work cut out.

Needs to replace long-term Barzagli and someone to fill Benatai's shoes. Then he needs to figure out what the hell to do with this guy.

That's a big issue because he can't have Chiellini hold his hand every match he plays. Not gonna happen. Would rather sell and try to bring back Caldara or find another guy.

Sarri would take him if he still has job at Chelsea in summer.
