He's an incredible player. The World Cup in 2018 illustrated that perfectly and he carried Chelsea.

He's also, after Del Piero, my second favorite player ever. I've been following him since he was 16.

This being said, he is 30 and has been pretty much injured for two seasons straight.

If he gets back to his best, which is a big if already, it's likely to only last for another season or two.

Germany is 4th league but Italy are always part of the big 3. When you look at the 3 major Euro cups (CL, EL, CwC) it's obvious:

Spain 18 12 7
England 13 9 8
Italy 12 9 7
Germany 8 6 4

And 8/18 of German wins are Bayern. After a 15 year English and Spanish dominance, Italy is still up there. It's a top 3 league historically and prestige wise no doubt

Until calciopoli it was for sure (the decline begun a bit before). Since then its Spain 7 CL and 8 EL. England with 4 CL (counting this years as well) and 3 EL. Plus the current EL final between them. Italy with 2 CL and that's it. So Serie A needs some wins to keep it's status
