There is probably some PR involved. Wingers and attacking midfielders are usually considered better footballers than strikers. Ronaldo positions himself on the wing so that his fanboys can still live the illusion that he’s the flying winger with dribbling skills that he was at Manchester United. In reality he plays like a poacher nowadays.
No he always sucked as a striker in a attack of 3, already at Real when they tried it. Allegri also tried it in Ronaldo's first game with us. You'd say he'd be a great striker considering his characteristics tho. I agree that his new role should be as a pure striker, we should try it for a few months.

Actually, considering his characteristics, he should NEVER play as a striker and thats the main reason he has exelled as a winger all his career. He has no vision, doesnt know how to play with his back on goal and no creativity. There is a reason that he played best as a winger, cause as a winger you have one less side to worry about defenders coming to you cause you usually play near the throw-in line while as a striker you have oposition players incoming from all sides and you need to have great positional awarness. At this point, if i was Pirlo i would have forced the 4-3-3 with CR7 and Chiesa on the wings and Morata as striker or Dybala as a false nine or some shit.

Ronaldo cannot play as winger anymore. He can’t dribble if his life depended on it. With Ronaldo playing as winger, we become a complete non-entity in terms of creation from that side. He needs to play as a striker.

Exactly. Just look at the numbers. Loses almost half his dribbles, mediocre shot from far. Much more effective up close. Can't cross for shit. Last time I checked wingers had crossing ability to change play but hey that's me...lol
Also sucks dicks without the ball so one of our mids or LB has to cover his workload leaving that side crippled when he plays like a CF anyway.

29 matches, 27 starts 25 goals
Min/goal 99
Goals inside box 24/25 Goals outside 1
Headers 6
Shots on target %58
Dribble %63
Big chances missed 25
Also 11 crosses at %18

Square peg at Juve. I admire him for making the move but Juve never had the team to get the most out of him and wasted him.
Could we have asked more than 100m from Ferrari? One would think if you are going that far, get another 50 or so, sell a couple of dead weights and buy a couple of decent mids..not sure with the financial aspect so idk

I don't think we could afford both, his wages alone are 60 million a year. It was kind of all in on Ronaldo.

I think he's just never learned to play as a lone 9 - At United, Madrid and Portugal it's been tried and it failed. He doesn't hold the ball up well and bring others in to play the way Lewandowski, Kane and Aguero do. Technically & physically he has everything to do it but tactically he has never interpreted that role well.

I can only think of the first game against Chievo where he played as a 9 for us and it’s never been tried again (understandably).
The switch from playing Mandzukic out on the left instead of CR7 has been too drastic and it can be argued that we haven’t looked anywhere near as cohesive as a unit ever since.
