In order to extract such a regular standard from CR7 in big games we need competent wide players and a WC midfield. The team is getting there when it comes to wingers; however, the midfield is severely lacking. Bentancur, Rabiot, Ramsey, Arthur etc are joke compared to the Matuidi, Pjanic, Khedira midfield (which was a joke compared to MVPP) let alone what Ronaldo had at Madrid.
