The insistence that games that happened 50 years ago actually matter today is unreal to me. I can't think of any sport this happens in other than this one.
Of course they fuckin matter! That's how a club's reputation is built. That's the reason everyone cares about 'making history'.

Guess Real and Bayern shouldnt count their CLs from 50s and 70s because it has "no relevance" to today lol

A way to progress is remembering the past failures as vividly as possible as to not repeat them.

Evidently. I don't know why this moaning against Pirlo then. Sure we are not winning the Scudetto but after 9 years in a row aren't we sick of it.

Pirlo is doing a good job. He is avoiding embarassing losses in finals by smartly exiting early. He might do even better and avoid the embarassment of elimination all together by finishing outside the top 5. After all, if exiting early is better than being second then not playing is even better.
Umm because he is an actual amateur?!

That's not what we are talking about. The point is that some lost finals years ago mean nothing about our chances in the next final.

It has no real bearing on anything. What does our Scudetto record matter for right now besides "bragging right"? Nothing. How many fucks do you really give that Eindhoven or Feyenoord won the Champions League before? I have negative fucks to give about it. And it sure as hell won't help them win it anytime soon.

You think the current Nets team gives a semblance of a shit that the organization itself has never won a championship before? Harden and Durant don't seem to give a fuck. Maybe they should be afraid of the Bulls because they won so much in the 90s too.

This sport is always on some holdover European monarchy bullshit about inheriting wins like there's a divine right to do so :howler:, makes no damn sense.

Sure as a player if you were personally part of it, the same applies to anyone on Earth in anything in life.

Each lost final creates enormous pressure on the club, fans and yes the players, even if they did not participate in the previous lost finals.

Whether we like it or not it's always there, in the back of their minds just like it was on Liverpool players who choked time and time again in EPL. Pressure build up is real. Juve has by far most pressure to win CL (also because of record lost finals), and I feel it has hurt us ability wise. The team needs to be loose sometimes, confident, instead we crack under pressure time and time again, legs become heavy minds hazy and so on.

That loosness has helped us win Italy, and that pressure made Napoli crumble.

Saying past wins is irrelevant is crazy. Winning breeds winning even with entrely different set of players. I believe so..l

We didn't choke against Barca.

On the contrary - we lost because we wanted too much after the equalizer.
This

We were the better team for a lot of the second half and they scored their second goal from a counter attack after we were denied a stonewall penalty on Pogba. Totally killed the game off for us.

And anyway, we were clear underdogs in that game. It was an achievement itself that we made that final after a humiliating group stage exit the year before. That was one of the best Barca teams of all times with a legendary attacking trio at their absolute peak and we gave a good account of ourselves for the most part.

Before selling the likes of dybala id be asking ronaldo what his long term intentions are because if he fucks off for free or before his contract expires why the fuck would we want to sell dybala if ronaldo isn't committing long term?

Another thing to think about...ronaldo has scored as many goals as dybala or there abouts in half the amount of the games...dybala asked for half of what ronaldo earns per year...so the media tells us anyway...is dybala asking for too much based on ronaldos wage??

Ronaldo is a scoring machine and I would hate to see him leave but there are so many other negatives to him staying right now.

You are right about revenue and exposure. They don't interest me either. I am not the owner. But they do affect the quality of players, so they do matter.

I know losing a final hurts a lot but that is just silly. Is Inter's record better than ours? One title and embarassment every year.

I don't believe we can win next year, unless we get Allegri. And even then it's not very likely. We need to think about long term and limit the damage.
I still have to listen to my friends mocking me that Inter has more CL trophies. We are in the same basket as Porto, Benfica and Nottingham Forest. So, yes Merda is above us and we should correct that as soon as possible. Hopefully next year. We can't think long term when we have Ronaldo, who knows when we will be able to have a player like him in the future.

Selling Ronaldo would be a mistake. People tend to forget that we signed him when he had just won 3CL in a row. The shame is that we did not give him a good enough supporting cast or a good manager with the exception of Allegri, who by then was working with a depleted squad and a bunch of has been.

Too bad we didn't sign him just before he won 3CL
