tell him to win a champions League without CR7. if ronaldo never played for Real they wouldn't be having 13 CL.
Real from 2014-18 wouldn't have won 13 CL titles or 4 in 5 years if it wasn't for Ronaldo, Ramos, Modric, Bale, Benzema, Kroos, Casemiro, Marcelo, Navas etc.

They just had an insane team those years and were so god damn clutch. In 2017-18 they were on the ropes against PSG first, there after Juve and then Bayern and still managed to get to the final and win it on clutch goals again.

Sure Ronaldo was their most important player/goalscorer, but he didn't do it alone. Their team was just a well oiled machine.

Up until Chiesa joined, Ronaldo scored every single one of Juve’s goals in UCL knockout stages. Remember the goal against Sassualo.. Juve would have not qualified for CL and the most important goal of the season. If we have tied that match we would have been out of ucl for sure.
He got paid a million a week to only score, nothing else, no defending to tracking back, nothing else. Where was he against Porto? Quag and Matri were on duty against the likes of sasuolo we didnt pay 100+wages for two goals and a penalty against Porto.
To talk about him still being the best or that what he gave on the field justified a million a week for us is only something a CR enthusiast can believe.
Logic however says a wc potential mid that fits this team, with ability to pass, on 1/4 CR wages, would make way more of an impact with this team than having a poacher which everyone has to work to feed.

Why did we buy him at all? we should have put players around him that would help him to thrive.
If we knew signing Ronaldo would result in economic difficulties we should have thought twice. he did everything he could, and he's not the one to blame.

ronaldo dragged them. Remember when Benzema and bale used to fuck up easy goals but ronaldo used to score every important goal. He also had the highest number of assists and dribbles for real Madrid.

I don’t hate him, but I still want him to fail miserably at United for the way he forced his way out of here.
me too
but it's delusional to think that Juve regressed because of signing Ronaldo

This is the problem you are living in the past this is not the CR of madrid. we bought him to make an impact in CL that is the biggest reason we brought him.
He is not to blame we are. It was a big mistake, with time that money could have been spent on 2/3 WC mids/players and they'd still be with us.
He has gotten gradually worse over the years and at a point where it's not worth to pay him what he asks. His asking price is for a CR of ten years ago not now.

Exactly. He is a liability now everywhere but the offensive third. Managers need to compensate for his short comings. His hold up play sucks. He’s first percentile for presses. He doesn’t track back. Ronaldo in 2015 used to be able to break lines single handedly and scorch multiple players. His threat kept other teams honest. Now they don’t need to be because he isn’t that player.

sheamus
“He wouldn’t last five seconds in the ring. He’s too soft, he’s too soft bro. Those players that go down when the wind blows or a blade of grass hits their shin, they wouldn’t last two minutes. I mean he’s got the showmanship but nothing else. He’s got no physicality, that’s what I mean.”

Was scrolling trough the Ronaldo thread on Redcafe, people are already divided.

Im happy that this chapter is over.
So do I tbh. I'm myself unsure how to rate this move in hindsight. I can't help but wonder how we would look like if we spent all that cash for a pair of CMs or perhaps a CM and a winger maybe.

Bringing in CR7 made us under-utilize Dybala and Higuain. Maybe even Mandzukic to some point. All that while midfield had been falling apart and reeked mediocrity.

For example we had been linked to SMS back then and he turned out to be a good player, much better than what we had on our roster once MVPP were gone.
