All other beings equal, yeah, maybe Elia is a better permanent option for the LW. But seeing as we already had Pasquato, I am against us paying €10m for a player when there isn't a clear difference in quality between the two. Either we go for the quality or stick with what we have. Elia is a waste of money and squad space.
Seriously I don't know who to blame, lets say he was on DelNeri's plans but he left, we had Conte by then. We had option to buy, we could have just let him go back to Udinese. We always do big favors to teams who screw us up.

First, there, Pasquato is NOT a winger, and regardless of how I criticize Elia, he is way safer choice then then Pasquato to bank on as LW, obviously more talented/accomplished. For example, ask yourself this, what have you gauged to say they are the same quality? Pasquato, pre-season games against low level oppostion, he looked decent and I would been happy if they gave him a squad role, but thats it. Elia? He impressed me in Twente, and some games for Dutch NT. All in all, in a way that says defenitely a difference between them.
And as I said, they dont even play in same position, Pasquato isnt a true winger, more of a emergency option. It sucks he isnt given a chance, but dont get ahead of yourselves and exaggerate and overhype. Bit baffling the conclusions you come with.

Simply put, if Pasquato wasnt a Juve youth product, or was even from another country, and had the same track record he has right now, experience in Serie B/2nd division player who hopes for more, would any of you signed him? Over Elia? I know there is a difference when he is already ours and easier to give a chance. But I'm hypothetically saying this scenario because, there is no way you preferred or said he is same level as Elia, in a position that isnt even his main position.
Well, I mean last year I kinda understand Marotta`s idea with him. I mean, we signed him just before the World Cup, he was in Italy`s team, and one of the players who were not exactly well known all around the world and playing for a big big club, so maybe, maybe he (Marotta) was expecting a good performance from Italy and from Pepe too, (as he made a decent season with Udinese in Serie A and earned his place in the national team), which would have made his price rise up, so Beppe quickly took him before someone else (hahaha, I know how this sounds like today).
But, in reality, Italy failed, Pepe failed, season started and except from 5-6 very very good games for Juve, he did not make something remarkable with us. And 5-6 very good games and another 5-6 good and decent is a nice record for a back-up (squad) player, but no way good enough for a starter, which Pepe was considered by coach and board.

So you would preferred if we had started this season as Pasquato as the main option for our LW position? (saved the 10m? for what?) Really? That tosh poster said it well, criticise the boards decisionmaking is understandable, and like say maybe kept him as backup before signing backup options, or selling Pepe and keeping him. But risk starting the season as him being considered our main opion in LW? Based on what? Besides blind hope.
Not that I'd like Pasquato as our main option, no. Maybe you think Elia is a safe-option; I don't. I think he's gonna flop (obviously I hope otherwise). So it's not like we went for Elia because he's a proven player who will likely give us a solid season. He's less of a risk than Pasquato, but we still paid 10m on a big gamble.
