Last time we had "food technology class" (currently about malting), the teacher was making jokes about when they would take over Westvleteren, or had to build a monestary first.

Its sad really. We have a few special cafe's that offer 100+ beers. But many of those got taken over and industrialised. The bad way.

For example combining the grain from 10 harvests, to enshure the taste is absolutely the same. Takes away personality if you ask me

I was never a fan of Leffe. Fav beers from Belgium for me would be Tripel Karmeliet, Duvel and Hoegaarden.

That's the whole thing, they are taking away the personality, the challenge of having the same taste all over again and knowing you will not succeed.

Taking Westvleteren? I would stop drinking Belgian beer if that ever happened. By the way, I have four bottles of Westvleteren XII in my storage room not many people have that (feeling proud)

Appreciate it? I've been visiting/living in Belgium since 2003 and ever since I have heard about Westvleteren and only until this summer I managed to get my hands on six bottles right from the source. I do respect everything about it, I do respect the fact that it is not ethical to resell it even though I know I can get my money back from selling only one bottle. However, the taste is not my favourite and that's only down to personal opinion. What I am trying to do is though aging three bottles to drink once on my coming birthdays and trying to see if the taste changes. Many experts have mentioned that their XII does change taste with time.

With appreciate, i mean the taste.

Its like, i like white wine, but i'm not a wine taster.

If you know beers well, and can comment and compare flavors, then you can actually appreciate really special beers.


Having that said, i'm interested to the result on your birthday idea. I'd like to hear how the diffrence is, and how you liked that there are diffrences.

Does Blue Moon count as a commercial beer? Because it's pretty good

I like drinking craft but I usually stick with Yuengling since it's cheap. Not proud of it but I even drink Coors sometimes :dissapointed:


Going back to craft, there's so many options. I'm always trying something new. Some supermarkets have individual bottles and you can make your own six pack. Best idea ever.

Blue Moon is odd. It's one of the best selling, widely distributed beers in America. It's actually made by Coors. There was some controversy about that a while back. So it's kind of hard to call it "Craft" since it isn't produced by an independent brewery, but rather a large conglomeration.

This was one of my favorites, but I don't think it's made anymore, or at least I haven't seen it in the past year or so.

So I started drinking this instead.

Whoever gives more attention to fashion and clothing goes towards wine. I have no idea why but I noticed that.
