Is this true about your “governments”? Sounds like a total mess tbh.

From what your health care officials are saying, it sounds like your health care system is nearing capacity and on the edge of being overwhelmed. :scared:

2 months ago, my brother's friend lost his life at only 26 years old to Covid. He was diabetic but lived all his life not having a real issue with it. Used to workout a lot, play sports and all. It started with a fever and escalated very very quickly and he was in an ICU induced coma in less than a week.

If you are a cunt that doesn't care about other human beings who could be diabetic, have heart or lung diseases. Then, yes Covid is not that serious.
Yesterday a guy i knew from the neighborhood lost to Covid. 38yo, hospitalised two weeks ago and gone now.
Was active and chatting on his fb wall almost all the time and then silence for a couple of days. No one was expecting this.
Life is not a fairy tale.

It's true. All of it.

Article is pretty good at highlighting some of the institutional problems Belgium has:
" The dictum “less is more” never reached the Belgian high echelons of power."
“A great many politicians can claim power but, in the end, no one is ever responsible,”
"Throughout the pandemic crisis, the Belgian population was unified in one thing: The general sense of confusion and bewilderment about the ever-changing rules imposed by the different layers of government."
Etc.

I think statements like these would seem like somewhat of an exaggeration for an outsider. But the sad fact is, they're all 100% accurate.

First time I hear anything about a message from bishops though. Can't recall even hearing anything about it.
Then again, I do ignore all info, messages, etc coming from "the church". :D

Yup.

I do trust the people in the field to avoid the worst though. If I had to take a guess, I'd say a collapse of the health system is not entirely impossible, but still very, very unlikely. Seems like this risk might be somewhat exaggerated just to get the point across that the situation is (more than) serious.

Also true. But not really "news" as such, considering that this was also the case in March & April.
Not an ideal situation, obviously, but probably not that big of a problem either.

It's about time they did something for us!

Some more news from the current Covid leaders: Belgium is now recording over 20.000 new cases a day.

To put things in perspective: taking our population into account, that would equate to more than 550.000 new daily cases in the USA.

France with 854 new deaths today. First day with over 500 deaths since April.

5th day straight with 1000+ rise in hospitalizations too.

:scared:
And 700 in the US.

We used to have 300-500 positives per day in the first wave. Now we're having 1300-1800 regularly while I'm pretty sure we're gonna hit 2k like... tomorrow. And it's not like we're testing any more than before. It's just that % of positive tested seems to be increased drastically.

US likely gonna have well over 1000 dead today once the rest of the states report. And close to 100,000 new cases.

im pretty sure we’re too far behind for anyone to make much of a difference at this point
I wish I could see how the numbers would look like now if a democrat President was in the white house since the very beginning of Corona. Could be different, could be not different at all.

I do think with a population of 9 million, 2K positives per day doesn't seem that bad. Croatia and Bosnia (smaller populations) are putting up similar numbers. If you compare it to more Western countries like Austria or Switzerland with similar populations their recording 8-6k per positives per day.

Numbers would be slightly better, at best. Too many “FREEDUMB” twits south of the border for any pandemic mitigation and control to function really well.

But the messaging would be more consistent, the following of epidemiologist and public health expert guidelines pushed harder, and stimulus package/unemployment support would be better and longer lasting (ignoring future economic consequences for now).

I’d imagine they would be somewhere between where they are now (~715 deaths/million) and where we are here in Canada (270 deaths/million). Until they let it go fully out of control through the summer months, unlike the rest of the first world, their numbers per capita were very similar to ours.

here is my prediction for covid situation.

if there is no vaccine by spring of 2021, there will be no more lockdowns. it's just not possible. restuarant and toursim industry (inlcuding airlines + cruises + hotels and all supporting industirs of these ) are completelty destroyed right now.

asking for people to just sit and lose their life savings and businesses for more than a year will not work. no one will follow the rules so grandma can live (she had her moment in life. now is our time will be the logic)

i am not saying this is my view or if it is justified or not. this is where i think we are headed
