i don't agree. the companies may declare bankruptcy and I hope they do but oil will always be there.
Oh man, you know how much I want you to be right.... I want to believe, but I tell you right now that I've been through bankruptcy (a real one, not a Donald Trump one) after dictators, criminals and general corruption F. me (really don't wanna dig into that) and I'm always be like "it's ok I can do it again"... well, right now, I'm not so sure

Wait and see. No point in torturing oneself with 'what ifs'

Everything will be OK. Do not worry. The oil prices will stabilize but some companies will go out of business. This is just the beginning of the end of oil companies.
Widespread EV and FCV adoption will finish most of them. They should diversify and adapt or die.

I know. My job is forecast, so I used to worry just for the future, not so much into the present, kind of crazy. Let me get though it and look for options, so far I think religion could be one, becoming a farmer could be other one, maybe a mix... open to ideas ;)

Collapsing oil prices won’t be good for renewables.

That's ok and everything goes into that direction, oil price collapse isn't that. As I said, it's a chain reaction: oil industry, new technologies and alternative fuels, than technologies, then financial, after that is total

But as you said, it's only if it stays that way for a long time, like months. Otherwise it should be just a depression between 1929 and 2008, what's really bad but nothing like what it may happen with a complete collapse

Yep, I'm ok, I'm working for a solid tech company and my job for the next year I think is rock solid.... but I want to build my own medium companies again and I was 100% sure I would do it in some years, right now, I'm not so sure

Farming is hard. If you have certain talents religion is the real deal.

Over the next few weeks and months we're of course going to see drastic differences in the way businesses are run. As is always the case, those who can adapt will thrive, and those who don't will be at the mercy of whatever the government decides to help them with.

Resilient entrepreneurs will capitalize on an economic structure where people will be staying home. Surely you can come up with something that would work.

Trump is suspending immigration “to protect US jobs”. Most of US embassies’ visa sections are closed anyway, so this is just a dog whistle to the base.

@Cerval

I read some criticism of that antibodies study you linked of 3300 people that claimed 1.5-2.8% of people in Santa Clara County had infections, and extrapolated that to 50-80x more infections than tests...

Apparently it wasn’t really random testing, as they recruited via Facebook ads, which would attract lots of people who had been sick/mildly sick and curious to know if they had it previously. It also didn’t randomly test people throughout the county in similar numbers, but had heavy participation from some neighborhoods and not others, meaning hot spots could have been picked up or missed, especially given how they recruited participants on Facebook.

Doesn’t mean that their numbers will turn out wrong in the end, but there were definitely issues with the study.
