Trump aside, I don't think I could name politician who'd take responsibility at this point. They'd all try to dodge it "this was new, it never happened before and we didn't know how to fight it".
that's a hypothetical.
the point is not to name a politician who may or may not take responsibility but show one who doesn't.

Hmm. I get the China lies, it makes sense. Not sure about Russians, though. I'm not sure it's lies as I expect them to have plenty of cases. Maybe @Bisco can tell us what's going on.
Their quarantine began 3 weeks or so after everybody else's quarantine, they have one of the lowest numbers of ICU beds per capita in europe, their average hospital got the equipment of a WW1 field hospital, the little supplies they have Putin likes to view as tool for geopolical warfare and give to other countries rather than own citizens. IF their numbers continue to grow, they're completely fucked.

Economically tho, Putin 'ruled' that people will receive wages for 1 month of quarantine but without contributing a single penny from the treasury, so, like, the unemployment wave will be ridiculous.

His press conference yesterday was a joke !!

How?

Yeah, I do believe they will be fucked.

‘Murica in 2020. Taxpayer dollars used to create Trumpian propaganda videos of random people praising Trump’s coronavirus response, and highlighting the lies of the true enemy of the people, the free press, aka the fake news. :touched:
we’re also encouraging farmers to throw away food while thousands line up at food banks across the country

Flu killed 68,000 people in Italy over 4 seasons from 2013-2017, or 17,000 a year. With no lockdown measures, quarantine, etc.

Covid-19 has killed 21,067 already in 6-ish weeks in Italy, with around 600 people still dying each day. With a full lockdown in effect for most of that period.

I’d say it’s either substantially deadlier than seasonal flu, or vastly more infectious. Most likely a combination of the two. Somewhat deadlier, somewhat more infectious.

Seeing as it has killed over 10% of positive cases in Italy, and that’s underestimating deaths substantially according to most research on excess mortality this year (in home deaths from it aren’t being counted as no tests are being done on most of those cases but at home deaths have skyrocketed from yearly averages), there would have to be 50-100x more positive cases out there for it be anywhere near seasonal flu rate of .1-.2%

pretty good interview. definitely shows how important early testing would have been. liked how he said it’s hard to make decisions with little data.

will be interesting to read his study when it comes out, however I think he’ll have a hard time painting a large scale picture with such a small sample. that said, it will no doubt be helpful in moving forward, instead being completely reactionary like we’ve been forced to be so far

The title is just clickbait, he is saying that we need extensive antibody testing to determine what is the best course of action, because as of now everyone is just guessing.

Not between 50-100x, but the Danish say between 30-80x more undiscovered cases than the official number.
