Shouldn't be too long til they get it right and are able to produce enough for everyone, right?

My thinking is that once enough testing kits are produced for everyone this will begin to come under control. You've been traveling, you have symptoms, know someone who has the virus or you just want to take a test, then you get tested. You have the virus, you're quarantined, you can't spread it. New infections start to fall off. I suppose the next problem is enough beds for everyone, but those who aren't too badly off will just have to be responsible for quarantining themselves.

Is it as simple as that?
It certainly doesn't help in the effort of flattening the curve.

And with limited test kits and lack of proper protocols and communication at start, flattening the curve is best case scenario. We're already told most of us will come into contact with the virus and many will be infected.

TN might flatten curve, NY might not.

What's going on in UK, Germany, France? Were they short on testing kits too?

there’s a problem with the reagent and the supply of small containers you put the swabs in

we should have taken the million who tests

lol I hope you don’t get laid until august
a man in Italy was fined cause he left quarantine to find his hooker =(
For months unless you're married or got you woman close to you the only option gonna be "Federica"* as we say in Italy.

*Federica = la mano amica aka literally the friendly hand which is a way welcome to fapping world.

This is a nightmare
welcome to Italy.
What's up did you think Italian were worse or special than the rest?

The only difference is that China locked down everything almost istantly
Everybody forbidden outside of their home no matter the reason and military in the streets to check things up and bring food and drugs.
Italy didn't act immediatly and things got blown up

Btw, we're starting to feel huge damage here. My friend is working for 1 more day, then he's out of job for the next three months (minimum) since he's working in a kindergarten (finance). He's not even from Belgrade so he won't be able to pay for his flat, food and bills for that period. All my other friends are feeling the pain in the wallet as well. Majority of the companies won't be exporting so people are out of the screen. Everything in our economy seems to be cut by 20-50% already which is a disaster. And it can only be worse at this point.
everywhere is like that.
Here unless you're a public worker or have a good contract you're pretty much fucked

I wonder what will happen to all the homeless people in San Franscisco, or really homeless people in general in the US.
did US ever cared about the milions of homeless?
It will be the law of the jungle.
If you survive good! if not. who cares?

Last time i checked US has what? 30 or 50m of homeless?

I guess. I just thought such sectors cover like 30% at most in the US. For some reason I was thinking a huge chunk of your jobs could be done via home.

It's gonna butcher us, though. Totally. And nobody knows for how long it might last and when the real peak is going to be...
Well Germany and France already said that they'll help economy (which doesn't mean banks/stock market) with 550b and 300b euro
Italy is a misery as always and gonna spend (at least for now) 37b to help healthcare and private workers

Surely the govt will help to at least keep things afloat in the short term?

I can't see any govt not doing it...but there are always one or two retarded outliers.
I doubt it. Maybe in some countries... For example, my friend works in production, exporting to the EU, mainly Italy. There are 26 of them. Yesterday they told them 6 will stay and 20 will be on unpaid vacation for unknown period of time. 90% of them have their own families. Also, my other friend was told that today is his last day on work, he'll be out of job for minimum 3 months without getting paid. A third example is somebody else, where government MIGHT help, in which case he'd get 40-50% of the wages while not working. 40-50% would be 300e. He's living in my town where he pays for his flat 200e which instantly means he won't be able to pay his bills and food for the next three months. Or... my situation. I'm working but I'm on the gray market. Nowhere says I'm employed, despite me getting cash. I won't be getting any penny whatever happens unless I continue working.

So far only pensioners were told they are the only group who can pay bills in 3 months time. All others gotta pay right away. But even if it's delayed I'd need cash in 3 months. Dunno, it's really fucked up and it's gonna get worse once they totally shut down more jobs, shopping centers, etc.

EDIT: I mentioned a case where 40-50% of the wage is 300e which is downright insane. In majority of the cases 40-50% of the wage would be 150-200e.

Where do you live? eastern Europe?
Here the situation it's critical to those working in "black" meaning illegally without contract
Else the rest are on paid leave and gov already told they'll help , stopped mortages and the rest till the situation goes back to normal

Oh, black market. I said gray market. But yeah, I work on a black market, without a contract. But it's not easy for others too since even if they do get paid something (which won't be full wages) they won't be able to survive on that. I'm in Serbia, Belgrade.

As for the paid leave, companies will do that here but they'll pay only 2 weeks (which will be considered summers vacation taken early). In other cases, some will get that help of 40-50%, which is still a horribly low figure.

It’s estimated to be between 500k and 1 million.

It’s stupid that DNC is going ahead with primaries today in Ohio, Arizona, Florida and Illinois.

Same in Italy now. 30-somethings.
IMPORTANT:

This is being linked to taking anti-inflammatories (brufen, voltarol, naproxen etc) for pains or high temperature. Take paracetamol or similar only.

The four younger people in ICU Cork who are in a serious condition had taken anti-inflammatories. Seems the Ireland, UK and French governments are all in agreement on this.
