Pretty much half of the country isn't going to be working. And now the deaths will start to ramp up this week into next. Scary times.

Valencia have confirmed that ‘around 35%’ of the club’s staff who travelled to Milan last month have tested positive for the coronavirus, with more positive tests on Monday.

It follows the club confirming on Sunday that five individuals had tested positive for the virus, including a trio of first-team players – Ezequiel Garay, Jose Gaya and Eliaquim Mangala.

It is said that all those who have tested positive are currently recovering at home in self isolation, with none of the them reported to be showing symptoms of the virus.

The club reiterated that full safety measures were undertaken by everyone following last month’s trip to northern Italy.

The statement also mentioned having to play on February 19. in an ‘area confirmed high risk by the Italian authorities days later.’

The two other individuals who are confirmed to have tested positive at this stage are club doctor Juan Aliaga and Paco Camarasa.

The club were in Milan last month for the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 match against Atalanta, with the northern Lombardy region of Italy the centre of the original outbreak of the virus in Europe.

Valencia have once again warned of the highly contagious nature of this virus and have urged everyone to exercise caution in line with governmental and health advice.

Btw, we're starting to feel huge damage here. My friend is working for 1 more day, then he's out of job for the next three months (minimum) since he's working in a kindergarten (finance). He's not even from Belgrade so he won't be able to pay for his flat, food and bills for that period. All my other friends are feeling the pain in the wallet as well. Majority of the companies won't be exporting so people are out of the screen. Everything in our economy seems to be cut by 20-50% already which is a disaster. And it can only be worse at this point.

I still think this is just the beginning in the US. The % of the infected is gonna be huge.

Half of the country won't be working? Wat, really?
It's difficult to know exactly, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was that bad. Restaurants, airlines, cruises, retail, beauty, luxury, and other service-related areas will basically shut down. They are also starting to close down construction sites, which obviously can't be done remotely either. Then all of the suppliers for these industries will take a hit, as well as some of those financing these operations. All schools are basically shut down other than those that can operate online. Then you have to worry about all the companies that could have layoffs as the recession worsens. Et cetera. That's a shit ton of people.

I wonder what will happen to all the homeless people in San Franscisco, or really homeless people in general in the US.
Unfortunately, I think they are going to have company, especially if this lasts as long as they're saying (July/August).

I guess. I just thought such sectors cover like 30% at most in the US. For some reason I was thinking a huge chunk of your jobs could be done via home.

It's gonna butcher us, though. Totally. And nobody knows for how long it might last and when the real peak is going to be...

Restaurants/businesses at busiest street here was ordered to close and other restaurants to serve only at 50% cap.

Some owners are refusing arguing they're overreacting, and there must also be that old southern "my house, I do what I want, govt too big" mentality at play. Mayor now considering calling in law enforcement on them.
