It’s certainly possible but it hasn’t yet. I’m curious how high vaccinations will go in northeast states and west. Will any states reach vaccination rates like what we have here north of the border. BC is at 74% first shot and 63% fully vaxxed of entire population and still making good progress. I’d assume we’ll get to around 80% of entire population fully vaxxed even with the under 12 group ineligible.
Anyways, the vaccine needs to continue limiting hospitalizations and deaths to be a huge success. I guess we shall find out over the winter how well that goes.
Death rates in hardest hit areas spike massively when hospitals start to fill up. Which is a big part of Peru already being at 0.6% of the entire population killed by this. There are also counties in the US with over 0.35% dead already from this. If we just let it run rampant, out of control, viral load spiking to unseen levels too, from the very beginning you’d be looking at a far far higher IFR and death toll due to lack of facilities and staff to give proper care. But regardless, considering multiple places have hit that 0.3% already without the entire population getting it, it’s more like a ~99.5% chance you’ll live.
How about people stop being such whiny bitches about things like wearing a mask and other minor inconveniences, so life can for the most part go on as normal.
Having hospitals and more importantly ICUs get swamped with Covid patients to the point of collapsing is a good thing apparently. And ya know hitting our doctors and nurses and other health care workers with massive viral loads is fantastic too. Because killing off a bunch of healthcare professionals who are not short-term replaceable in the slightest is a another great and fantastic idea!
There's only 1 thing to say: People (still) don't get it.
Too many people in hospitals => problems for everyone in society. It really does not get any simpler than that.
I don't really have an issue if your idea is to just let the virus roam freely. That's obviously an opinion you're allowed to have. But you'd need to accept the fact that no single country on the planet has the hospital capacity to treat everyone when shit hits the fan.
So, who should & who should not be treated when it comes down to it? Not treating people who refused the vaccine isn't possible, apparently, so how will we make that choice? Survival of the fittest sure is a nice concept. The problem is that virtually no one actually wants that when it concerns them personally.
Israeli health ministry said same data showed Pfizer still had 88% effectiveness against hospitalization and 91% effectiveness against severe illness. But that was conveniently left out of that post. Lol
Hospitalizations should be drastically reduced by getting 2/3 of the population vacced? Just let me live a normal life again. How long they want those restrictions to continue?
I've been pro rather hard restrictions in the beginning of the pandemic, but too much time has passed, and with it my patience.

Numbers have started to increase here over the past 5 days. I expect us to reach 1k cases by next Monday. When we reach that number I can only expect it to rise up, see new restrictions and our summer festivals to get cancelled. I think we've got 50% vaccinated but I expect same thing to happen in countries with 70-80% too. Prepare for another ride.

You are not alone. Getting people to follow restrictions is near impossible these days even in places most ravaged by the virus.
Btw UK started its Delta turnaround, while Florida with 30 something percent vaccinated rate is surging.

And that’s the entire reason why vaccines are being pushed to get to that 70-75% area. To reduce hospitalizations, severe illness, and death, and allow reopening. But when you have states in the US for example with 35% vax rate, and hospitals and icus nearing capacity yet again, I’m not really sure what is expected. Idiots refuse the simplest things to reduce spread like wearing masks. Or any other minor inconvenience. Because let’s face it, a mask during a pandemic is a very minor inconvenience. And sadly, majority of anti- Covid vax people are also anti-mask (of course there are exceptions).
We just opened our borders to vaxxed travellers. Masks are no longer mandatory anywhere (which may be a mistake with delta), everything is open and basically allowed to run at mostly full capacity. Any government mandated restrictions are pretty much gone. But we also have close to 75% first shot and will likely be at 75-80% fully vaxxed by September. So I guess we shall see how things go here in the fall. After the vaccine push to get things going again, any sort of restrictions outside masks are going to met with a lot of anger and resistance going forward now.

My opinion on whether or not I'm getting it hasn't changed though. I was never eager on getting it. Not for some conspiracy bullshit, but simply because I feel I don't need it.
Point of the restrictions, or so they said, was to buy time until 2/3 of the population are vaccinated. To protect the healthcare system from collapsing. That was fine, but as soon as we reach that goal, I want restrictions to be lifted. And the restrictions for those who are fully vaccinated are the biggest joke.

Oh 3g, now I get you. No hasn't changed my opinion yet.

Means he wants to lock out non vaccinated people from restaurants and festivals and all kinds of group events - EVEN if they test negative before it. Madness.
