So trump is telling people to gather in large groups when there is a very contagious disease with no cure out there.

Republicans really want to kill their own base
66% of those 65+ (The only age group to favour republicans in 2018) voted in 2018 midterms compared to 36% of those 18-29 (massively favour democrat).

Trump trying to make sure there is never a republican president again. :delpiero:

He’s really thought this through. If they go there and end up being sick, he’ll tell them to take hydroxycholorquine so they die regardless. Trump is really a democrat double agent sent to do irreparable damage to the Republican Party.

Dissent at the state and individual level is the hallmark of a weak or nonexistent federal government. In an attempt to cope with the pandemic, states across the country are forming collaborative unions of several states, basically looking to fill the void left by a dysfunctional administration.

This is true to an extent. But like I've said before this also demonstrates that your democracy is more solid than it looks. The federal government might be dysfunctional, but at a state level things seem to be much better. It tells you that one lunatic isn't going to destroy your country and you're not a dictatorship quite yet.

I saw this in a discussion about Trump's tweets today

"This is going to get thousands infected and hundreds to thousands of people killed unnecessarily, if people follow through, and extend lockdown in those states, the day after he said it's up to the Governors' when to re-open. That means those Governors are going to be the ones blamed for this. Governors of blue states.
NYT listed Wisconsin and Virginia as key states in the 2016 election, they both went Blue (Clinton won by 1% in Minnesota and 6% in Virginia), and many people believe that Michigan was also a key loss for Clinton as Michigan voted blue in every presidential election from 1992-2012.
Trump just basically just rewon Michigan, secured Minnesota, and quite possibly Virginia too, 3 key states for the 2020 election, in 3 tweets, in 4 minutes."

Americans, you think this is the case?

I can’t find words

Let's see.

Democratic Governor

Democratic Governor

and

Democratic Governor. No political agenda there on the part of Trump.

But you notice that he wouldn't dare say that about California. Even he's not that stupid, and he has set the bar really low for himself.

If any of us Americans think that these tweets were anything BUT a pre-emptive strike in the 2020 election, then we really are dumber than we thought.

He can’t hold rallies in swing states anymore so this is the new way to make them excited.

In other words, he is doing EXACTLY what he accused the Democrats of doing when he called this pandemic a hoax.

Politicizing the Coronavirus

As a Republican, I get it that it is really hard to support a Democrat. Especially the new wave of Democrats, for the most part.

But how can any Republican, especially ones like myself that became one because of Reagan, support this guy. I don't understand it. I just don't. And he is bringing out the demons in a lot of these people that support him.

I could never imagine Republicans, or at least ones that say they are, would have supported Reagan if he acted this way.

He's not attacking the governors of the states that he knows he can't win.
