Oh yeah, I forgot he was so good and important to Chelsea that they let him go. I guess I don't understand how players that are important to a team stop playing for them. And Essien was just better... "class of his own", you mean better that Tiago who was average. Andy, you always question my intelligence, but you seem to struggle to grasp the fact that he wasn't important enough for Chelsea to keep.

Tiago is an average player with the potential to be a good player, as I said earlier. And NOTHING more. Almiron, Nocerino and Zanetti > Tiago Right now. I thought he would be better, but obviously he is a slow learner. That is fine, but you need to stop defending the indefensible.
Teams let go players that are very important to the team all the time & there are 100 examples for this.
Essien was the best complete half defender in the world & Morinho was dying for him but Lyon wouldnt let him go unless Tiago go to the other side(which Mourinho refused at first) but in the end he did it for Essien.
Try to watch Portugal matches in the last world cup & see how Tiago was a starter & one of the most important players in a midfield that had(Costinha,Maniche, petit, ronaldo,Deco,Figo & simao)!
We have board that dont pay large amounts of money & they payed 14 mill euros for a CM!
The season is long, just wait for Tiago to impress!

I am not saying he sucks... I am saying he was average and expendable. He is only 25 and has a long way to go, but he isn't ready right now. He is not a WC player and he won't be a great player. Chill out. That is just the facts and honesty. You are going all in with nothing but hope. Maybe you are right, but history says your wrong. Let him prove us all wrong. He is a man isn't he? Let him earn a place in the starting lineup and then let him hold that position on his own. I have heard enough whining from the Tiago gallery about him not getting playing time and he needs to be given the opportunity... blah blah blah. He had an opportunity last night to earn a spot. He didn't do enough. Better luck next time.

How many times do I have to tell you that TIAGO wanted to leave? MOURINHO wanted to KEEP TIAGO, but TIAGO WANTED to leave. Well-documented.
Tiago didn't want to leave Andy, I read when he left he made a tearful goodbye or something. Tiago was part of the deal to bring Essien to Chelsea, Lyon's president demanded insane cash and the inclusion of Tiago brought down the price. Mourinho later on confessed it was a mistake to let go Tiago to Lyon. That can be seen in Tiago's profile on uefa.com

Essien is in a class of his own, being the best destroyer in world football today. He was one of the top three destroyers during his last season with Lyon, so of course Tiago would be first choice from the bench but still a fantastic tool for Mourinho to bring on.

But shortsided Tonykart cannot put the puzzle together... football novice.
Essien... the best? Wow. Tiago left, because a WC player came along. He was still growing and even Mourinho, whether he liked him or not, knew very well it was better him than Essien. When Juventus and Ranieri are in the same position I hope they make the right move.

I will wait... beleive me I hope I am wrong. I thought he would be better than Almiron in the beginning, but he has looked incredibly out of place. We will see, but chances only come few and far between.... he needs to step it up quickly.

Tiago did want to leave once it was known that he'd be part of the deal to bring Essien, while Mourinho originally wanted to keep him but they really had no choice. Chelsea wanted Essien and despite being damn good for the Blues, Tiago had to be sacrificed.

Yes, Essien is the best destroyer in the world right now, no doubt.

Tiago is a World Cup player too, Tonykart. If you didn't know, he started for Portugal in the World Cup last summer. :jester:

It doesn't matter what you say about his ability, Tiago is not Italian, hence inferior to both Nocerino and Zanetti.

World Class is a term reserved for truly top notch players. You are basing your opinion on Tiago on nothing but hope and potential. Like I said... it is the Tiago fans that are unrealistic... not me. I think you guys vastly overrate him. He is an average player with the potential to be good. Not WC and not Great.

passionate Juve of 05/06!!
This team had 11 world class players & 9 of them played the world cup final & I was considering Juve that season as THE best team in Europe(in term of players) but when it comes to passion,I feel this team that we have now has a lot more passion than the 05/06 one.Just remember the Aresnal game in the CL or even the Bremen game.
Dammit, Tony, I can't help the way I feel! Perhaps I could have chosen alternative phrasology but it doesn't change the fact that the Juventus side I'm referring to would have dismissed last night's Parma (who must be one of their poorest teams in years) within minutes! No, the 2005-06 Juve weren't perfect, but if you could have a team of comparable ability now, as opposed to our present rebuild project which would you rather have?

Of course it's going to take time, patience & effort, not to mention hard cash to get us back to even something like we were...it just wasn't funny watching 2 Champions League no hopers like Glasgow Celtic & Moscow Spartak on the tv & Parma v Juve on the PC & the same time & realising that both Celtic & Spartak could at the moment make things pretty awkward for us where once we'd have beaten both, at least over 2 legs...so it's as well for now that the situation won't arise.

Regardless of the cheap shot at tonykart, it IS true. Tiago at the moment is inferior to both Nocerino and Zanetti.
While one is not accustomed to a new enviroment, I think it's cheap to even compair the two/three. Though I do rate both Zanetti and Nocerino highly, I think Tiago is superior to both. Maybe not defensively but all around, yes.

And that's all that matters, Dominic.

They are all different players and one is new to the country/team. It would be simply idiotic to bench our most expensive player so early in the season just because another player looks better at first. Give them all a chance.

How is it cheap to compare the two/three? IF anything it's logical, they are competing for the same places.. How can you NOT compare them?

Tiago is good alround yes, but at the moment he isn't good. As pointed out before, he lacks functionality.

But you opinion is not based on his performance for Juventus or his current form. It is based off of whatever potential you thought he had based on his past performances at prior teams. IMO, he has not earned a spot in the Juventus lineup and therefore does not deserve to start over the other three. He needs to do more when he is out there than he has so far.

BTW, I am sure you don't remember that before the pre-season I though Zanetti and Tiago would be our starting CM's. I have since changed that to Nocerino and Almiron based on performance. I am clearly not the biased thinker here.
