Look, all considerations aside, if ranieri won the scudetto with this squad he ll be one of if not the best of coaches in juve history, to do it with all the injuries that have plagued us he d be the second coming. Ranieri deserves to get his chance for the big dance i.e a REAL challenge for the scudetto.
:agree: although we would have all preferred a longer title challenge, I think the clubs has been going forward according to plan...but still, it's difficult to see us like this

After Marchionni and Grygera came on, we scored the equalizing goal which was from a pass by Grygera and ricocheted to Nedved. But of course, only world-class players can assist or score goals I guess.

Prandelli, Spalletti are the same level as Ranieri in that they never managed a world-class squad.
BUT, both are ambitious and adventurous, and neither of them is Molinaro's dad

So you're saying that Grygera made a pass that didn't go to it's intended target? What a surprise.

Clearly I never said anything about "only world-class players" can score or assist goals... I'm not sure what you're really getting at here.

Of course, this comment is from someone who recently compared Marchionni to Cristiano Ronaldo, so I'm sorry, but I can't put much stock in it.

Oh, c'mon Red. These two have been our worst and second worst players this season... and for me, Marchionni over Giovinco is not even close to justifiable. Plus, Ranieri didn't even use his 3rd sub!! Not even in desperation, in the final minutes...
Since he assisted in the goal, it means that the sub is a good one. See what I mean? You did not spell it out but it is clear to me that you think only Giovinco and Trezeguet can make the difference. The reality is that you are wrong since Grygera was involved in the goal.

Comparing Marchionni and Cristiano Ronaldo isn't stupid. CR7 flops for the national team as much as Marchionni flops for Juventus. His player of the year award is for his 42 goals scored for Manchester United, a team with a strong defence to support his lack of defensive work and great players like Rooney, Scholes and Evra who helped in the attack, thus distracting opposing defenders. He disappears in big matches, rarely tracks back, and missed in the shootout. His dribbling ability is crap compared to the likes of Messi, Ribery and Camoranesi, his free kick-taking ability is nowhere as good as the past greats. If Messi had not been injured so often or if Kaka had not been hampered by the exertions of the past years, Ronaldo would not even be considered. Just look at his performance with the national side where the teamwork is not good and the defence is creaky. How many times did he make the difference? His relatively poor technique is clearly exposed.

Both are ambitious and adventurous and their team of Vargas, Riise, Mexes, Tonetto who are supposed to be better than Molinaro and Grygera somehow conceded many more goals. They also have great buys like Baptista, Menez, Loria and Vargas(again?) while we only have Amauri, Sissoko and Poulsen who are not essential. Sorry, the Molinaro's dad joke does not register with me. Wasn't Ranieri Nocerino's dad last time?

he also score goals at Euro 2008 for Portugal...deny it as much as you want, the guy was the best player in the world last year
No doubt but compared to previous year's winners he is nowhere near their levels. If we compare the whole seaon, he is the obvious winner, because he is the only one who played regularly. Scoring goals is all good but he could not lift the team over a weak Germany in a crunch match in which he should have shown the whole world how good he is. There is no doubt that he can score against easy opposition which was an important factor in United's EPL defence. It was in the important matches that he falters . Anyway, the main point is not that Ronaldo is crap(which he isn't) but that if Ronaldo does not play well without support, Marchionni will experience the same thing because both are not good dribblers.

Rijkaard won stuff when he had the best team in the world.

Can he win when he doesn't have the best players? Can he win without Ten Cate?
Even my grandmother would have won those titles with Ronaldinho in his prime, Messi, Eto'o..... I can't see him coming here, especially since he would love to coach Milan, not Juve.

for those who are asking for wc coaches..i really believe its difficult to acquire one.

there are people asking for benitez(i dont like him nor do i want him), and i dont even think we would consider getting him

then u have mourinho, as if!

ancelotti will not coach us, although i would take him in a heart beat

rijkaard will not come to juve

and this thought really frightens me but since we were linked before ranieri to eriksonn, what if we hire him??

Benitez renewed with Liverpool
Mourinho is at Inter, and is too expensive
Ancelotti would be great, but it is being suggested he is heading for Chelsea
Rijkaard would then go to Milan
Eriksson could be a great option, he is a good Coach and has experience in Italy...but his recent "form" as Coach ahs not been great

This isn't hockey, where a second player can get an assist on a goal despite his pass being tipped. The assist on that goal was by Nedved. Grygera put a ball into the middle that was off the mark, deflected, and the only reason the play worked out was because of a brilliant touch by Pavel and a perfectly composed chip by Vincenzo. C'mon now... let's not give Grygera props because he completely lucked out and two other players made brilliant plays.

Beyond that, what about Genoa's third goal? I easily could be wrong about this, as I was watching a totally shit internet stream, but I am fairly sure that Grygera blew that offside trap and was one of possibly 2 players keeping Rossi onside... which, if I'm correct, would be so fucking typical. I could easily be wrong, but at the time, I thought that is what I saw. Anyways, regardless of whether that mistake actually was his or not, there is NO player on our team that has made as many costly mistakes this season as Grygera. RB is our biggest hole right now, IMO. Anyways, I digress.

Regarding Giovinco and Trezeguet - absofuckinglutely I believe in them to make the difference. Way, way, way more than I believe in Marchionni. Infinitely more. That's because David is one of our champions, a phenomenal finisher, who has consistently made a difference for this team in the past. Giovinco has demonstrated that he is lightning quick, an excellent passer, a tremendous dribbler, and in general an extremely dangerous offensive player who has clearly begun to demonstrate his true worth. Since the Chelsea game, he has EASILY been one of our best players. Marchionni offers none of those qualities, and in a situation where we are desperate for goals, I can't see how anyone can justify selecting Marchionni (easily one of our worst) over Seba.

The bottom line is that regardless of being a man short, if a team is down a goal in a game that is crucial to the season (and one could basically make a case that at 2-1 we were 2 goals short, considering that we effectively knew going in that a win was required to keep Inter even remotely in our sights), there's no way in hell that a coach should sub in a team's 2 WORST players. Especially considering the alternative options previously noted.

As for Ronaldo, I really dislike him, and I basically never defend this player. However, for you to compare him to Marchionni is absolutely ridiculous. The fact that you're trying to rationalize such a ludicrous statement by comparing Ronaldo's technical abilities to a bunch of incredibly talented players NOT named Marchionni is possibly the most bizarre thing that I have ever read on this forum.
Clearly Ronaldo receives a lot of support, but it's also clear that Marchionni wouldn't even crack ManUre's squad at the moment.

Oh, and despite his questionable performance in some big games, and despite the fact that he inexcusably missed that penalty, do you remember who scored Manchester United's goal from open play in the CL final? Even if you say that Scholes cross was sublime, it was still Ronaldo who buried a fantastic header (if memory serves me, the cross was by Scholesy). In total, we're talking about a player who scored 42 times in 49 games, and had an incredibly 'poor' mark of 8 goals in 11 - clearly meaningless - Champions League matches.

He's horrible, i never thought i would say this but i'd rather stick with ranieri for the next 5 years than having Eriksson as our coach (i've always thought he's really a lucky guy for managing top sides but never did anything impressive with these teams). Plus he's more predictable than Ranieri when it comes to tactics. The one thing that he's good at is fielding the right players in he's formations (but this is hardly an achievement)....

I agree, unless the opportunity presents itself to get a top class coach in.

As I remember correctly this is exactly your problem with Ranieri, that he fields the wrong players. Therefore Svennis is an upgrade to Ranieri when it comes to your complaints.

This is a fair comment. However, it should be noted that more than a few of those players who formed that "best team in the world" were brought in after Rijkaard had arrived. .
wonder what woud have happened if Barca has gotten Beckham instead of settling for Ronaldinho:shifty:

 he may not be the worlds greatest but we have improved from last season, if we can continue to improve then i feel he deserves the chance to take us on a title charge.

plus there are so few genuine candidates for the job to consider sacking him

what?seriously? teams all over europe wanted poulsen, sissoko has been a revelation and amauri (when given service) is one of the most impressive strikers in europe right now
