Ranieri: «We will have back our champions in the decisive moments»

«The match against Fiorentina will be a difficult one. We will be playing against a good team which is having a great championship. Brick after brick they are becoming a splendid reality and we were very clever to have obtained better placing in the table even though we had just been promoted from the Serie B. Also last year though, they beat us in Turin. I remember it clearly and the boys are on the alert». Claudio Ranieri spoke of the match against Fiorentina with Juventus Channel. A complicated match but for which Juventus are supposed to have back important players: «the clinic is slowly being emptied and this is good but first and foremost hats off to those who played up to now and who managed to bring Juventus to such a position notwithstanding the absence of so many champions. Our champions will be back in the decisive moments ».

Ranieri keeping an eye on Diego Thursday 22 January, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Claudio Ranieri has opened the door to Diego and is focused on the Champions League Final. “I'd pay to be there!”

Juventus will face last season's finalists Chelsea in the second round next month for a place in the quarter-finals.

“If it meant reaching the Champions League Final in Rome, I would pay to be there out of my own pocket!” laughed the Coach.

“Before that, we must face some very strong sides. Last year Chelsea lost because of one penalty, but they are all big clubs in the competition now and that includes Juve.

“We hope to reach the test with Chelsea in our best form. The Champions League does take up a lot of your energy and focus, so it will be important to have back those champions who have been missing through injury.”

Gianluigi Buffon is still suffering from a serious bout of flu, which in some newspapers was described as 'bronchitis', while Giorgio Chiellini, David Trezeguet, Cristiano Zanetti, Tiago Mendes, Mauro Camoranesi and Hasan Salihamidzic are approaching their comebacks.

“We can't find a reason for all these injuries. Last year there weren't any big problems and we have not changed our training regime.

“There is an issue and we will try to resolve it. After the initial injury, Zanetti had a series of relapses, while Chiellini and Camoranesi keep feeling pain despite the tests showing no damage.”

Juventus have not been active on the transfer market yet, but Ranieri was less dismissive than usual on the possibility of picking up Werder Bremen star Diego.

“We are keeping an eye on him, because he is an excellent player
,” the tactician told Juventus Channel.

“We have to evaluate every element of this situation. Clearly I like him, but we also have to think about the balance of the squad.”

This week Ranieri commented that he hoped Manchester City would not turn their attention to his own stars after failing to tempt Kaka for £107m.

“My players are priceless. When there is a chance we have to begin from scratch. I would never sell, but it isn't only down to me and there are other considerations to be made.

“If by selling one player you balance the books and can buy others, then the matter can be considered.”

Ranieri: «Three golden points»

The match against Fiorentina was never considered an easy match and such matches make the supporters suffer till the end. This is Ranieri’s train of thought at the end of the match: « I think that we all suffered. All Juventus supporters but at the ned of the day the important thing is that we brought the 3 points home. Fiorentina is a good team and especially during the first half we tried to score the second goal. The midfield tried to control. They were trying to attack us centrally and therefore the midfield had a lot to do».

The first goal of Marchisio in the Serie A: «Claudio played a great match and deserved to score the great goal he did. The same goes for Marchionni. They both are playing really well and give all they’ve got on the field».

A very difficult match sought mostly in the midfield: « After our advantage they were the ones to try and dictate the rythm of the match and we controlled. We had certain short-comings which we will discuss. In the first half what I liked was the way we fought back even though they were trying hard to put us in difficulty».

Ranieri’s first victory against Fiorentina since he became Juventus coach: « It was about time that I managed to win against Fiorentina with Juventus. It was important for us. In the last three matches against Fiorentina that they managed to catch up and even beat us last year.»

The first place in the table: «We will start looking at the table a bit later. For now our objective is to continue on this road. We began 2009 in the best of manners».

was he even watchin the same game we were?!

Yes, because Marchionni was really playing well but people here look at the small details, look for the smallest mistakes he makes and fail to see that overall he was one of our best players yesterday.

Getting all the injured players back could be a "bad" thing for CR. Until now he just had to field the players available. Let's see what he does in the coming weeks.

I agree with Marchionni. He could finish better but he's doing a fairly good job up until now. Using him on the left when Camo comes back and give Neddy some needed rest could benefit us.

I remember him owning meeeelan with Parma. He just needs to make runs, good passes, cut and cross with the right. Neddy needs some rest.

Though one must admit that he's been terrible most of the times.
