IMO it's not so much as what he has achieved more, it's about what Ranieri himself has not achieved. Ranieri was in control of some very strong and promising squads, mainly a super wealthy Chelsea and a always strong Valencia, and yet he failed pretty miserably with both.
Personally, I don't rate Prandelli any higher but I always disliked Ranieri and considered him to be a small club coach. ATM I'm undecided over him.

Indeed good question and with many answers...I heard that Prandelli is very good conditions with players.While he was at Roma everyone liked him alot.He left Roma because of his wife who died week ago and may she RIP.He`s better coach then Ranieri IMO.He coached Parma very good also and now doing the same job with Fiorentina.And btw he was Juve palyer. He likes to rotate team alot and his coaching reminds me a bit like Wenger.He`s also prefering young players.With 15 points deduction he was able to make it to the 5th place with Fiorentina wich really is something and back then he got that award for golded bench at season 06/07.I wouldn`t mind him here at all.

Ranieri didnt really fail miserably at Valencia TBH.The same goes for his time at Chelsea.It could well be argued that Hector Cuper achieved what he did on the foundations laid by Ranieri at Valencia,and Mourinho achieved what he did on the foundations laid by Ranieri at Chelsea.Ranieri will lay down good,solid foundations,but he wont win you anything.He'll get you safe and stable,but he wont take you to the next level.

That was always the defense of Ranieri supporters and TBH, that means jack shit in my book. One can debate whether Chelsea or Valencia are big clubs but Chelsea got that status instantly and Valencia had a lot of success from after Cuper so they had high expectations.. He was brought to both clubs to win, laying foundations means nothing in a big club. Both Cuper and Mourinho had different philosophies and played different players and tactics. Just because he discovered Lampard or Mendietta doesn't mean all that much IMO when he didn't make them champions. Mourinho and Cuper did.

Their squad was said to be better, they have been playing in Serie A last season with Prandelli and they improved the players this season and yet we are superior to them with a new coach and many young and new players, doesn't this mean that Ranieri is better?
Look what is he doing against Inter, he is giving them all the space up front and Inter are just enjoying taking these chances easily. How many chances did Inter have? 2? 3? and they are up 2-0.
What did we do with Inter? Do you still remember? I think against Inter we had one of the most tactical approaches in modern football, we managed to stop a team that is five times better than ours in terms of quality.
