Like rossi_juve says, just a standard, diplomatic answer to questions from the media.
I actually understand the 'I'm flattered part', it's about being classy rather than being greedy.

However that tango part is weird. I think we even said he's an important player for us in the media? Doesn't seem like something he'd mention in the public this way IMO.

I think we've seen a sensationalised version of what he really said.

Fuck Monaco and fuck United. Marchisio isnt going anywhere. If he left it would be the worst possible thing that could happen to Juventus for a long time. Up there with Calciopoli and the release of Del Piero.

Well, it's flattering when the team that has the money to buy some of the world's best, and started buying some of the world's best, wants you there.

so in other words hes no different from players demonized as mercs

Going from Juventus to Monaco is a huge success. I don't know why.
Monaco is buying a competitive team which could well be a bigger CL contender than we are in a couple of years so why not? It's only because it's Marchisio, the useless mediocre Italian player who has to be rid of at any cost but when it's Falcao it's alright. Or Zlatan and Thiago Silva, can't remember them leaving Milan to join PSG was seen as an indicative of their lack of quality or anything of that sort. Teams like Monaco, PSG and Man City are looking for players who can improve their quality instantly, they cannot wait to grow players gradually so when they see Marchisio as one of these players, it seems reasonable to me that he is flattered by their offer. It says that he is seen as a player whose presence can add quality. It's your problem if you think he is not that good.

Yeah, if they ask "How do you feel about interest from Man Utd and Monaco?" The way he answered is a typical way to be non-controversial.

What do you think are his intentions from these comments then, that he's trying to angle a move for himself?

I remember even Del Piero said similar stuff coming down to his last years whenever contract talks came up.

DP said similar stuff early in his career too, but marchisio is liked most around here not because he brings what DP brought in terms of quality but because of his supposed juventino blood. And thats not what a real juventino would say in this instance.

In a couple of years Marchisio is already gonna hit 30s, I don't think they are thinking so much ahead.

I never said he should be sold at any cost. I said if offer is good. Two different things.

I remember people laughed at Ibra and Thiago when they signed for PSG. Now I see people saying it's totally fine if Marchisio wants to go there. Double standards.

They indeed want to improve their quality instantly. Even buying Peluso at this point would grant that. Their squad is rather weak at the moment. So I guess he thinks high of N'Dinga.

Are we talking about his uncertainty about if the club intends to keep him on, or about the flattered by Monaco talk?

For the first part, like I said, I think it's very likely his words were dramatised. But if not, maybe he really doesn't know what the club's intentions are. Yet, still he says:

“I will have to talk to Juventus. I want to see if I’m still important for them,” he told journalists in Brazil today.

“If not, then it is only normal for me to look at other teams. It has been said that my intentions are decisive, but it takes two to tango."

... which to me looks like once the club wants him, he's happy to stay.

AS for the Monaco bit - it may come as no surprise :p - I agree with the others that say it means something when a club with an unlimited budget wants a player - they rate him highly, something he's right to be proud of. But still, it's a textbook reply to the questions players get all the time, that isn't very meaningful.

Since the media tends to twist words and blow them out of proportion?

Just two days ago Vidal was asking for the #10.
Meh perhaps FI is making a meal out of what he said when translating it to English but if that first line is a direct quote then it's a shit thing to say when you're a supposedly unsellable bandiera.

Still can't picture him in a shirt that isn't ours though.

"It takes two to tango" is kinda hard to mistranslate when you think about it though. Unless they asked him why he wasn't dancing at Conte's wedding and he was referring to his wife not being there since the local buffet was running a special that night.

If you think about it, Claudio played the marriage game smart. :p His wife might not be a looker, but at least they know each other well, She's DTF and down for a brother.
