Vieri the culprit as Juve book final ticket
Juventus has booked its place in the final of the Italian Cup by defeating Inter Milan 5-4 in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out after their pulsating semi-final, second leg ended all square in Milan.

With the spot-kick count level at 4-4, Inter striker Christian Vieri saw his weak effort comfortably saved by veteran goalkeeper Antonio Chimenti and Fabrizio Miccoli netted the winning kick for Juventus.

A pulsating contest at the San Siro finished 2-2 after 90 minutes and 4-4 on aggregate.

Another 30 minutes of extra time failed to separate the two teams even with Inter reduced to 10 men following the sending-off of Ivan Cordoba in the 66th minute.

Juventus will now meet Lazio in the two-legged final.

Adriano gave Inter an early lead before the visitors struck back with goals from Igor Tudor and second half substitute Alessandro Del Piero.

But Inter grabbed a dramatic equaliser in the dying seconds of normal time through central defender Daniele Adani.

Inter took advantage of some sloppy defending in the seventh minute when Juve's fragile offside trap was sprung by the lively Adriano.

The bulky Brazilian, scorer of both of Inter's goals in the 2-2 draw in the first leg in Turin, timed his run to perfection to latch on to Dejan Stankovic's throughball and clipped the ball past Juve's reserve goalkeeper Chimenti before slotting home from an acute angle.

Inter stepped up the pressure and were twice denied by the woodwork.

Vieri hit the post with a left-footed drive and Kily Gonzalez rattled the crossbar from the edge of the penalty box with an arcing drive.

Juventus managed to hold their nerve and levelled the scores in the 41st minute through an unlikely source.

Miccoli's shot was deflected by Inter defender Thomas Helveg into the path of Tudor and the Croatian defender side-footed the ball into the net from a yard out.

Tudor limped off with an injury two minutes later and was replaced by France international striker David Trezeguet as Juve coach Marcello Lippi threw on a third striker to beef up their attack.

Inter went down to 10 men when Colombian defender Cordoba was sent off for scything down Czech midfielder Pavel Nedved.

Cordoba was shown a straight red card as Nedved was through on goal and denied a clear goal scoring opportunity.

Del Piero came on for Marco Di Vaio in the 68th minute and the Italy international, whose season has been plagued by indifferent form and injury, made his mark with 12 minutes left.

Nedved's corner swung outwards towards the near post and Del Piero escaped his marker to plant a firm header past Alberto Fontana in the Inter goal.

With time running out and the referee looking at his watch, Inter threw caution to the wind and were rewarded for their efforts in stoppage time when Adani tapped in the rebound after Chimenti had failed to hold Emre Belozoglu's point-blank header.

On Wednesday, Lazio thrashed cup holders Milan 4-0 at the Olympic stadium to complete a 6-1 aggregate victory over the European champions.

Quickfire Lazio were 2-0 up after 16 minutes thanks to strikes from Brazilian wing-back Cesar and Fabio Liverani.

Former Italy international Stefano Fiore completed the rout in Rome with two goals before half-time for Roberto Mancini's men.

Milan's misery was compounded by the dismissal of midfielder Christian Brocchi for swearing at referee Pierluigi Collina.

hmm i never knew that :)

well that one was mainly used to purposely target him for his mistake against milan, this thread is more used to actually open up people's mind to chimi more, and to actually appreciate him a little more, and cuz he made that error against pirlo, we shud learn not to quickly judge, but to instead look at his overall performance as a player, which i think is fair to say has been fairly decent
