Football is pretty easy. The whole world is split up about this moment which makes it a 50-50 situation. Penalty in a match of the CL quarterfinal at 94th min. should only be given for something that is a 100% foul. A foul no one could argue about. A foul that wouldn't leave anyone in doubt.

This guy summarizes it brilliantly.

My POV of the penalty. Ill try to be as unbiased as possible

Ill star from this premise from Pirlo
"It was a classic interpretable incident, you could give it and you could not give it. And when it’s 10 seconds from the end, if you’re smart, you don’t whistle and let the teams play for everything in extra-time"
Adding to this, ill say one thing. From certain angles, speacially from the front and the back of the players (i think the refs POV was behind Benatia)...the action seems very aggresive from benatia and seems like a hard blow is given to lucas.

BUT, in the camera behind the goal (more or less buffons POV), you can clearly see that Lucas is simulating the fall when benatia is centimeters near him. Lucas does nothing to continue the play...he doesnt try to shoot or head the ball, he does nothing but to wait for Benatia con tact him to do the full simulation.
Look very closely at Lucas´s legs. Even before Benatia touches him, his legs suddenly turn off and he starts falling. It was clearly a deliberate and planned simulation.

In the head of the moment is VERY difficult to the naked eye to catch this, specially if you are not in the perfect position to see the simulation. Its in fact impossible.

This a very common situation in football (teh simulation, every player try to win advantages for their team at all cost).

The only, the ONLY way the referee could be sure of what was going on... is to carefully see the replay from all angles. and the only way this catastrophe could have veen prevented, was with VAR.

Yes. Real and Oliver fans try to make it about the penalty as such. Which is smart because it's 50/50. But the real issue is that 50/50 calls always go Real's way.

Exactly. The 50/50's are always 100/0 in their favor. It can happen once or twice, but for it happen so consistently is just mind boggling.

@Hydde

Have in mind that Lucas boy has earned them 8 penalties since joining Real. 4 this season. He sure knows how to do it.
yeh, thats why for us fans is very easy to critique... but the call was a tough one.

Still, what Pirlo says is 100% true. If the decition is so tight and SOOOO delicate....let it go and let the teams solve their shid between themselves... but do not decide the outcome of a game like that with a decition based on doubts.

The referee was a major idiot and irresponsible.

About Lucas...the fuker sole purppouse in that team is to earn penalties. And you can do that only in real madrid... because if dyvbala did that in that moment... i would not be surprised he would have make the ref get mad and straight red incoming for simulating in that delicate moment.

Having good reactions and knowing when to go down are vital for this kind of thing.
I always say if you play football yourself it's very easy to understand what really happens. It really is, because you know excatly how it works. I keep watching that shit and no one could convince me it's a legit pen. For the game and moment like this it was way too soft. That dude just felt Benatia's gentle touch on the back and straight away knew what he has to do. That's a talent to deceive refs.

I think referee also did not book any player for simulation that is why Vasquez took chance and fell down like he was hit with sledgehammer

After everything that’s been said - one last question. Would Michael Oliver have given that pen at the other end?

Agreed. The question should be if the contact has an impact. In this case, does the contact make him go down or otherwise illegally impede him? I'm not convinced at all.

"Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos will face no further Champions League punishment following Wednesday night’s victory over Juventus.

The Madrid captain – who was suspended for the tie for an accumulation of bookings – was present in the tunnel and club dressing room, allegedly breaking UEFA rules.

However, Cope report on Friday that the Spain international will not be sanctioned further and will be free to play in Madrid’s semi-finals.

There had been suggestions that the 32-year-old would be banned for one or two further matches due to breaching the terms of his suspension but this now no longer appears to be the case."
what an utter joke... they'd throw the book at any other player who doesn't play for barca or madrid of course... Id I ever needed a reason to think Uefa was corrupt and bent, this would be it

why?

can't wait for ours. lol
Buffon will probably get a 3 match suspension and a hefty fine. I'm fucking done with this corrupted bullshit, I thought calciopoli was bad enough to deal with

Will be interesting to see how Bayern will approach both games. I doubt the ref is going to favour Real again. Surely it will be in the back of his mind with every call.

why not? its not the first time and certainly wont the be last time controversy around referees and the spanish clubs will crop up
