Bonucci score headers  for a tall player like him he's one of the worst, can't direct a header on target at all.

..plus Ramos is one of the best headers of the ball... Pepe, Khedira, Alonso (was beating Pogba to goalkicks) nullify any threat for corner crosses... and ofcourse RM main threat: counterattack.
Pogba has a poor header too - you can see he never trains on headers, only with the ball at his feet.

Pathetic second half display, the game was there to be won but we refused to do so. Fact is madrid don't respond well to pressure. The likes of xabi alonso and khedira aren't all that good in tight spaces so they struggle as a side when the opposition pressed. We did that in the first half and dominated, it was just down to finishing and sloppy play we weren't winning and then the second half came.

Horrible stuff by the team. These tactics of standing off from opposition teams are becoming redundant by the day and I fail to understand how serie a teams aren't seeing that. You simply win the ball too deep and then struggle to launch a counter which leads to even more pressure, really pathetic stuff.

Thought our main problem today was that so many of our key players were having off nights. Tevez and vidal particularly were not on their game. This nullified our attacking game by a lot considering how much they add in this phase of play. Our defence looked dodgy all night and its times like this when we as an organisation have to realise that we have to move towards getting more athletic defenders who can cope with quicker players.

Marchiso was awol again, I honestly didn't expect any different and pirlo got worse as the game went on. That threw us off our game completely because pirlo and pogba were having a good night in the first.

We aren't gonna be catching up to the elite in football if we have second halves like those. What these games should've showed people is that we aren't that far in reality. A few quality footballers and the exclusion of clowns like caseres would go a long way in helping us.
Vidal not in the match??? he was arguably man of the match!!!

RM chickened in the 1st game, but this one was rather different. Now they're the ones basically playing without any pressure. Losing tonight would mean very little to them and it's relatively easy to play in those circumstances.
I think we chickened this game when we let in the goal at 1-1

I'd take 1-1 over 2-1 and just getting our your best defender sent off in the first 3 minutes of extra time.

Our team was dead after the first goal, but thankfully we managed to get a draw somehow

i think we were best in the 1st half... and tired in the 2nd.

IMO we did pretty good taking in consideration the amount of offensive technical players they have and we havent

Nah.

Comfortable victory for us IMO. The players know what the implications are going into this game, it'll be three very important and much needed points.

missed the match :frown:, how did we play?
Fantastic first half. Dominated and bossed Madrid for large portions of the game, with Casillas pulling off 2 or 3 wonder saves. Could have been at least 2-0 at HT any other day.

Much more nervy, error prone and uncomfortable 2nd half. Players looked unsure in how to approach the game after taking the lead. One (huge) individual error brought Madrid back into it, thankfully we managed to equalise with a brilliant cross and header. Our players looked well and truly gassed by the 75th min.

Good old fashioned tale of two halves.

the sad reality is, that we once had the best defense in Europe, seriously just what the hell happened? These unforced errors are killing the chances of winning any silverware this season. And that Casilias he had to play a great game against Juve, after being off form for the past two seasons.

It's funny because we're notorious for starting slowly and picking up our game after we concede, but it's been the opposite in a lot of our recent matches.
well usually were the team who is loosing, this was a nice change for once. This was the first time we scored first in the CL

what a great game, our first half was so good. I don't know why we dropped intensity in the second half but great work to make the comeback.

Thank you. :)

But "With Gareth Bale starting" as an opening headline? Shit, is everything Bale pinches out of his ass worthy of the top headline in England for the locals to masturbate over?

They even jerk off to his being subbed as part of the match "highlights". :sergio:

Madrid simply imposed themselves on us in the 2nd half. We are a team that is easily pressed. In the 1st half Madrid kept a flat back 4. In the 2nd half Ramos and Marcelo were considerably higher up the pitch. Their forwards pressed up much higher.

We have no pace on the counter so we couldn't do anything to pin them back or get back in the match and we're not very good at hitting any long balls that aren't directed at Llorente. Then we ran out of gas from chasing the ball.
