My least favorite thing about having Pirlo in midfield is that he is a constant reference point that makes our attack more predictable. Players are always looking to pass it to Pirlo when they could possibly be making a play themselves. The beauty of a Pirloless midfield is that there isn't that overarching obligation to pass the ball to him and players show a bit more initiative going forward. In simple terms, he slows down our attack.

I'm still not all that bothered by his playing because on his day he can take on that kind of responsibility and boss a whole game. It depends on how switched on he is tomorrow night.

Pirlo is a huge defensive liability, whilst apart from freekicks, Marchisio offers significantly more and allows us to play far better in the midfield, even if its Sturaro and not the mighty Pogba.

You go ahead and play Pirlo. Meaning Marchisio and Vidal will play a lower quality game due to obvious restrictions. Meaning Madrids midfield will cope with ours, meaning they should have not much problem reaching the wingers and make plenty of offensive plays.

You are missing the point. Its not about Madrid pressing us, its about our ability to press Madrid. We absolutely need to win the central midfield and cut of the fast supply to the wingers. Madrid will have great difficulties playing against a Marchisio, Sturaro, Vidal, Pereyra midfield, and thanks to using Marchisio as cdm, we can commit far more players running deeper into counter attacks, wich you simply cannot do when you have Pirlo.
And we've allready seen Marchisio can launch plays just as good with his balls over the defence.

Its not about Pirlo versus sturaro. Its about Marchisio versus Pirlo and the whole playstyle shift that comes with it.

Spo5t on both of you.

I prefer a midfield of Marchisio as regista...whiel vidal and sturaro as DM. Yeha we all know Pirlo is wolrd class, well, was...and has all the experience in the world. But is not only about his turn overs...but like nenna said..our whole gameplan changes when Pirlo is on. Its almost like if our players automatically prefer to look for pilro instead of doing something themselves. If Pirlo is on..real will press him and we need just one fuck up in which Crisitano ronaldo ends up with space to run...and is all about one pass to fuk us over.

My only concern with laying sturaro is that theres a high chance he can crack on this game because of inexperience and the pressure to deliver in a CL semifinal.... somwthing that will not bother Pirlo for sure-

Doesnt need to bring anything else, difference between marchisio cdm and pirlo cdm is huge enough. If he does his job of closing space and winning duels in the midfield, thats allready enough

Marchisio - vidal, Pogba - Pereyra

Pirlo benched forever if that team is fit son
Nope, Pirlo benched Pereyra at the start of the season and will bench him again.

You are right, and I prefer not starting him if we have real viable options, but do we this time? IMO no.

I won't ask for this team for things I know that won't happen. I won't ask for our players to obliterate Real Madrid, to bully their players, to thrash them like they're nothing. I just want for this team to get the recognition it deserves for once, I want for our players to put our name on high, I want for them to show that they're proud to be part of Juventus and to show 'em how big of a club we are.

If we win, I'll be in ecstasy. But if we lose with our face up, I'll be happy too.

How exactly can Pirlo bench the only actual CAM we got when the entire team is fit

Now you are getting there.

Thing is, what can Sturaro do wrong ? He's covered by Marchisio and will have a limited role going forward

I expect Tevez to be heavily marked this game.
not to sound pessimistic, I wish we had Pogba match fit. Vidal will be busy bullying their mid, and Marchisio's used to that DM role he don't make those ninja runs anymore playing b2b.
could grandpa Pirlo do it one last time on the big stage? he will have to.
Hopefully the Dortmund version of Morata will turn up against the los blank cos
