Buffon - didnt have much to do except take the ball out of net, Id expect a goalie like him to bail us out on one of the ffirst 3 goals we conceded
BBC - both Ronaldo goals were very facepalmish, made them look like amateurs
Alves and Sandro - Sandro gave Real a big hand in third goal, Alves didnt justify starting him over Cuadrado upfront
Pjanič and Khedira - they were never going to win the modfield battle against Kroos, Casemiro and Modrič. Still, not a big fan of Khedira
Mandžukič - what a goal, I felt.we should've used his advantage over Carvajal more
Dybala and Higuain - thanks for nothing

Allegri - so much for him being superior to Zidane, got schooled
Look, if you insist on using diacritical marks, you should know that you're doing it wrong.

Modrić, Mandžukić, Pjanić.

lol i understand the loss hurts. but that's the shitty parts about sports there can be only one winner. Our team gets progressively better and we know Marotta is already working to improve the team by being active on the market. We need to absolutely not sell our key players.

our priority next year in order:

1.) don't sell key players
2.) WC center mid
3.) wingers

Cuadrado and Mario shouldn't be our starting wingers and we need to play a 4231 with Alves as the RB...none of this Barzagli as a RB anymore.
:agree:
 what a shitty day

I know its only a football game but I am going through a rough period in my life I was hoping winning the CL could lift my spirits.
Chin up, there will be better times ahead
What a tough evening, just got home from London, not helped by what looks to be another terrorist attack to have hit the city tonight causing problems getting home.

I was in a pub with about 2 or 300 Juve fans, had my 96 CL final shirt which many had embraced and said to me that they hoped it would bring luck and appreciated the reasons behind wearing this to the usual 'black and white' even at 1-0 down we didn't stop believing as we sang our hearts out, when mandzukic scored the scene was absolutely unreal. I dont know what was said or changed at half time but we just didnt click into gear, too many misplaced passes, our forwards were isolated. I wont blame the ref for the defeat but he sure didnt help it, i mean he gave Dybala a fucking yellow after 11 mins for nothing, yet kroos, ramos etc... were whining, play acting, stamping on the players feet on purpose and were lucky to have 11 on the pitch. Cuadrado's red was inexplicable, it just added to the bad taste tonight has left and will remain for a very long time. It was hard to hold back the tears especially one girl who pointed at my shirt and clung onto me as a reminder of how long it has been since we last won it. What I find most upsetting is that i feel its the end of another cycle, it's all too easy to say there is next year, I feel it could be a long while yet.
Nothing will change unless the management change their transfer strstegy. The current transfer strategy does not work, too many mediocre players recruited without a specific system in mind and too much bargain hunting and compromise on positions and players.
We looked like everything we normally laugh about from other teams.
Too many problems in the team and we got exposed in the final because of it.
Yep. Reminded me of how Napoli and Roma fans needlessly put this massive pressure on themselves before games.

We should seriously close this match thread soon. Close and move on.
Agreed, close the thread it's time to move on and forget about this match. No good will come from leaving this open.
I just can't get to sleep, man this has numbed me up proper. Whose to blame? Idk for now I'm just cursing our luck in final. Them deflected goals really did mentally screw us over, I can't help but think how things would have been different. The ifs and buts will remain there as will that numb feeling. Now I keep saying to myself, surely I should have seen this coming, surely. Were we that blind? That deceived?

When you have to soak up so much pressure eventually something will give way. Whether it's a defensive mistake or a deflection that's out of the teams hands it's going to happen.

Real Madrid got lucky with some of their goals but if we were attacking them those shots would not be coming at us as much.

Look how many minutes that whole attacking quartet has played. They were spent. We had Lemina off the bench they had Bale

Such a shame. It still hurts. We were awful in the 2nd half. Gave up completely, stopped trying... Everyone failed, players and Max. They bossed us. We need depth. We need fresh signings. Are we good with FFP, can we spend some good money?

Well we helped to make bigger the RM legend and CR7 aswel... A walk in the park was for them, we saw a couple of bad "things" (ref calls, lucky shots, great saves or whatever) and break down like a teenager girl in her prom night... Next preseason we should take at least of week in some kind of meditation temple

Ffs all of our players have played hundreds and thousands of 90 minute football games, do they really not know.how to pace themselves so that they have something left in the tank for the last half hour? They lost their trust and heart not legs

This was the year to do it and we fukked up. Next year the mental block is even bigger, the key players are even older and under more pressure and we don't know if this makes players like Dybala want to move elsewhere.

Despite us controlling the first half I saw something I really didnt like in the first half and I already knew then we arent going to win it..
We played openly but didnt really trouble Real put aside 2 shots from outside the area from Higuain and Pjanic

I cant believe some here blame Buffon for goals conceded - he wasnt at fault for any of those goals.. If someone is to be blamed for a goal it should be Real for conceding the Mandzukic overhead which the only goal the GK should have stopped but didnt..

This wasn't our team running out of gas. Something must have happened during the half time talk. I really would love to find out what was said and why the team came out like we had already lost the match.

I've got criticised here this season for saying our attack is not good enough but it's painfully obvious after this match when we didn't create one single chance in a CL final.

Buying Benatia is an example of the mentality. Defence is the last thing we need to work on yet we are buying more of them still.

€17 million and high wages for a player we don't need.
We only switched formations a few months ago. Its normal that our offensive movements are not telepathic the way Madrid has it. I imagine that we will see in an improvement on that front with experience and with more signings.

I have nothing against the Benatia signing. He a very good defender and 17 mill is a sweet deal. We do have an aging backline.

Predictable.

I guess if I wanted something less predictable from you, I should have started a discussion about the quality of the Europa League.

Never mind.
Dont get me wrong, thank you for the correction, I appreciate it, it's just insanely funny that you chose to.do it at this time :D

@JCK, we suffered the same fate as Barca in '94

But this time vice versa

The great defending team got pummelled by the great attacking side

We shouldn't be switching formations mid season. The management clearly had no idea what formation or game we were going to play when they went on a mad recruitment spree.

Benatia may have been a good deal but that is exactly the problem with our recruitment.

We are not buying players we need we are buying players because the deal seems good and the player seems good without taking into account the other positions need much more attention than defence but hey we got a good deal for Benatia so it doesn't matter.
