One element that contributed to our defeat is exhaustion. From the first minute I could see lack of sharpness in our midfielders and attackers. Misplaced passes and not reacting quick enough. Khedira mandzukic dybala khedira were the most obvious examples.

And then of course the more important part is the mental blockage after conceding second goal. I could see Buffon (love him tho) looking withdrawn and throwing this hands up in acceptance after casemiro shot was deflected into his net. Then we have bonucci and chiellini, who are two players who have never won any big finals, and lost a few.

When a team's senior players start to show exasperation, the other players will be affected. We need to sign more champions league winners.

I know it's hindsight but this game really needed Cuadrado, those balls higuain was receiving in midfield that made him drift wide were cuads
I agree. We should had gone with John Square. Or even shake up things and go with a 3 man midfield. You have to be bold in a final and Max had to change something at the beginning of the second half when the team was not responding.

I watched the highlights and we were very poor in all the first 3 goals. Specially the first one when nobody closed Ronaldo and let him shoot all alone in the middle of the penalty area. And Navas was barely tested aside from that pjanic shot and Higuaín long rage effort.

Think someone mentioned before the game that this match was reminiscent to euro 2012 final. And it actually was. Only thing missing was Casillas saying "rispetto per juve".

Yeh buffon looked defeated after the first goal,
The management should consider hiring the best sport psychologists out there to break this mental block that prevents the player giving their 110% and leave everything on the pitch.

I want to see Juventus play a final like Portugal at euro 2016, sure they were lucky but those players gave everything. Pure conviction they could win. Play with courage, motivated and fearless.

Seriously. Why have we not done so already?

It's hard to say what we were missing going into this final. On paper we seemed to have them covered but mentally the players weren't there, especially Dybala and Higuain. Had either of them been able to hold the ball and complete dribbles and passes it may have been a different game. Maybe Pjanic and Khedira are to blame for that. Alex Sandro's pass to Mandzukic on that third goal :sergio:

I remember seeing Allegri's pre match conferenza (I've forgotten the English word) he was very stern in his words and manner. Much like he was before all those matches that we managed to $#@! up in the league. I wonder if the players were giving off vibes that they were spent or not mentally there.

I think we were beaten for two main reasons

1. Mentality - we were too scared, nervous and so on. This is something I can't see how we can change, sadly.

2. Squad depth. Real have so many options if some player is off form that it is scary. We had Cuadrado off form and literally that meant we had no plan B.

Good thing is we can fix the second with a lot of investment, but the first will be there and the next time. I can't see us winning it if we don't become ruthless and killing everything along the way. To win games tactically you need a lot of concentration and mental strength, we'll be lacking that from now on.

I was mentally prepared for the loss.

Hell, I'm a Juve fan, I should know by now what to expect in a CL final. And as much as I detest having even an inkling of a defeatist attitude, somehow they can't stop losing finals.

What I wasn't prepared for, was the way they totally fell apart in the second half.

Buffon - didnt have much to do except take the ball out of net, Id expect a goalie like him to bail us out on one of the ffirst 3 goals we conceded
BBC - both Ronaldo goals were very facepalmish, made them look like amateurs
Alves and Sandro - Sandro gave Real a big hand in third goal, Alves didnt justify starting him over Cuadrado upfront
Pjanič and Khedira - they were never going to win the modfield battle against Kroos, Casemiro and Modrič. Still, not a big fan of yesterdays Khedira
Mandžukič - what a goal, I felt.we should've used his advantage over Carvajal more
Dybala and Higuain - thanks for nothing

Allegri - so much for him being superior to Zidane, got schooled

Still can't understand what happened from the 50th minute. We simply let them run through us.

We have only ourselves to blame.
