Also if that's Max's reasoning then it confirms what a bad idea it was to leave Licht out of the squad. He's out best defensive fullback. And despite others saying Alves and Cuadrado are enough, now we can't play AS in the CL? I mean if we can't play him and Alves against Zagreb, then when can we?

I actually don't think that's Max's reason for not using AS. It just doesn't make sense.

I understand and I don't think he's right or wrong, besides it's his job, he's at the helm and something goes wrong it's his head being cut, not ours. So I'm fine with whatever he chooses.

Although having said that one would believe a top 5 best team in the world like Juventus (according to many here) with the best defense in the world (also according to many here) shouldn't be scared of a small team like Dinamo and their1 counter attacks. One would believe we need those 3 points more than never and fielding the best players would be only logical. :baus:

We should win this one whether it is Evra or Sandro, if Max feels a fresh Evra is a better option over Sandro who has played quite a lot, I feel we should give him the benefit of doubt and bitch about it after the game if Evra really fucks up.

The reasoning is theoretical. Evra's experience is alledgedly more useful on Europe. Allegri planned to rotate them like this before the season started, he said so in an interview.

I wonder if Allegri kind of agreed to this with Evra in preseason. Told him he'd play in Europe this season and now he wants to keep his word.

There's nothing that justifies this though. At this point, it's just a blind stupid decision, if he takes it.

That's not really fair to the player who has been playing well but whatever, as long as we win

Max himself said that AS played 6/7 of the last games, implying he needs a rest. Nothing about experience or defensive abilities was said, maybe if we had won the game against Inter Evra would have played against Palermo.

All our width comes from our wingbacks (and Dybala). If we have Evra sitting back we have little threat from the left.

I understand the concern of playing two offensive fullbacks usually, but not in a 3-5-2 where the fullbacks are supposed to provide the threat from the wings. If you don't want to play them together then drop one CB.
Well that's another thing then. Maybe if we signed Matuidi or Witsel we would even do it, especially now with so many injuries in defense. But take a look at our XI for this game. Pjanic, Hernanes, Khedira, DA, Dybala... To me its clear we will be holding possession here with Pjanic-Hernanes-Khedira/DA and Dybala. DA/Khedira will make runs through that right side, Dybala also often drifts to that side, Pjanic this season comes there often (probably to be close to the ball all the time). Our setup tells me we will hold possession and attack through that side all the time. Evra is there to hold his position and stretch the play, as in go forward when there is space, receive the pass and pass it back to Pjanic/Hernanes. Deliver a good cross if there is a chance and thats it. Basically its a tactical decision to allow our CMs, Pjanic mostly, to play higher up the pitch, as opposed to AS, who receives passes much higher and has a whole different role after that

With Marchisio it will be different imo. But having Pjanic closer to Higuain and Dybala is more valuable for this game, atleast its what I think Allegris reasoning is

Sandro is probably our most dynamic player after Dybala. We are clearly lacking technically and creatively so i don't get why Allegri would not start him. I would without a doubt start Sandro on the left vs Alves on the right but of course no choice now since Lichtsteiner can't play.

Is it possible to draw all games in the group stage and still go through?
Theoretically yes but I have yet to see such a scenario...
Lets say Lyon beats everyone but us and every other game is a draw so
Lyon 14 pts
Juve 6 pts
Sevilla 4 pts
D.Zagreb 4 pts

We can also qualify with this scenario (which is now impossible)
Everyone 6pts

I can see it on TV just fine. You don't get great defenders on today's football but to today's standard he's above average in both defensive and offensive aspects of the game. Reads the game well, tracks back well, good at tackling and putting pressure on his adversary, not to mention his effort going forward with precise skill and ability. You can't really get much better than him at his role.
Sandro is probably our most dynamic player after Dybala. We are clearly lacking technically and creatively so i don't get why Allegri would not start him. I would without a doubt start Sandro on the left vs Alves on the right but of course no choice now since Lichtsteiner can't play.

Sandro has been our best player of the season with Higuain. Not having both on the field doesnt make sense no matter how you look at it.

Even if Evra has the experience, it is worth nothing if he is not in better form than sandro. Also sandro is young and full of stamina so he can track back and fort way better than evra. Evra looks fit as fuck but no one can beat age.

If theres someone who should be thrown intro the fray, it is sandro. Let Evra play empoli and defend all he wants. Today we need to win.
