Yesterdays game made me realize that our defense isn't as bad as it's made out to be, it was a poor defensive display but it can't all be blamed on the defenders.

Someone said earlier that at the start Legrottaglie was 'shitting' himself (or words to that effect) - I would too if I saw that our 2 defensive midfielders were Tacchinardi and Appiah.

Apart from practically giving the ball straight to Depor everytime they received it - and in dangerous positions for us - how many times did you see about 5 Depor players running from almost inside their own half, towards our goal completely unchallenged?! They got in between our defence and midfield so easily - the defenders at times didn't have a chance.

I felt sorry for Thuram, he was at fault for the goal but I thought he was great the rest of the time, Legro improved and well, Montero is just Montero, the nicest bloke one minute - the next he's kicking and elbowing you like a man possessed.

Tacchi and Appiah were so bad - and have been bad for ages. Getting rid of Davids was a big mistake. We need to sort out centre midfield badly.

I agree Monkfish. Our defence is the same + LEgro from last year. It's our midfield that lost Davids. Midield is our weak department not the defence.

True... now that u mention it... the depor players were walking in the middle of the field like if it was no one playing against them, so is not totally the defenders fault... more.. for the veryweak defense we have, they did a very gtood job and if we quit thurams error, we could have escaped riaxor with a point and a very ugly game!.

Denco, ok i know that our midfield was a crap.... but why u say that Appiah at least worked....... worked what?? the guy wasted ALL the chances he had.. all the balls he received...he did nothing at all... what a waste of game for him. He definitely was the worst on the field with no doubt.

The defence is getting all the stick though - no wonder Legro looks so nervous all the time. Until he has confidence in those around him then he's unlikely to improve.

Roma have Emerson, Arsenal have Vieira, Milan have Gattuso (it pains me to complement him but it has to be said), Man Utd have Keane etc. I'm sorry people but Tacchi, never has and never will, even come close to these players. The fact he cannot pass doesn't help.

It's probably the same for Appiah. His technical ability seems poor, it would take a miracle for him to become world class (or some performance enhancing drugs - not that I'm suggesting anything there).

this is strange... i didnt see Tacchinardi was all that bad last night. Saying that , he wasnt all that excellant either. when your midfield was overan like that , questions will rise about the defensive mid.. and his passes werent really marvellous, but he , as always , just keep it simple and cool. His job is to pass to pavel nedved, not to pass like himm...

it is his partner that have to do the two way thing... something he cant find in Appiah right now. Damn , everytime the ball escapes from Appiah's feet, i can almost be sure that it will go well out of reach of a Juventus player, intercepted by a Deportivo leg, or put the another Juventus player in a difficult situation who will then lose the ball an create dangerous opening to Deportivo...:fero:

Guys, don't warry! We will go thru, believe me. Juve Needed this and deserved it but we will do everything to go thru. There is only problem that is the injuries of Maresca, my boy, and Trezgol. but we will go thru.

Monkfish actually Appiah showed some great technical abilities last season with Brescia and also at the start of this season with Juve. I don't know wht happened to him but he lost it.

The same with zizou,, he started very well...but now is a totally different person.

He jus move his leg quick... but nothing more than that... nodribbles.. no good passes...and the worst is that everytime he mistook a pass..we are bad positioned to receive the counter.

Disgrace.

but i wonder, than last year we had a deadly partnership with Davids and Tacci in the Def. Middelfield!!!

and everybody said that Tacci played so great and in my opinion he is a very good Central Mittelfielder, ok he is no Edgar Davids (and also Appiah not) but Tacci is known as a player who makes the passes from the defense to the offense (Neddy) and last year he was always solid his passes were always good and genau!

and he can't lost that abbility the only thing he lost, is his partner!

I know that we miss davids and it was a fault, (but it was not the only mistake in this saison from juve)

but i think than we have to play otherwise and use the players like Maresca, Tudor, Appiah!

Appiah played a great Saison last year, but i think that he is very young and he has to learn to play on the highest level week for week (or at least try to do that) and maybe the pressure is to high for him...

one question, who will play in the middelfield next week, Conte got a yellow card suspention, Maresca is injured, Tudor?,.. who will play?
couldn't we play Micco in miedelfield?

we need to be attacking as hell.... if it were to me i would put zambro as left winger with aa birindelli- thuram-legro -pesotto defense...

To tell the truth I'm not one bit confident going into the second leg. Maresca and Trezeguet are injured, Nedved and Del Piero aren't anywhere near their best, and Di Vaio has gone cold now that we need him most (he's our only real replacement for Trez).

@Monkfish: I agree, we're missing Davids badly.

I am not feelin confident either but the one thing i like abought Juventus is that they can come back from these things and play great again.
If i was lippi next week id go for this:

-------------------buffon--------------------

--birindelli--thuram--legro--pessoto------

----------------tudor--tachi---------------------

--zambrotta-----nedved-------------miccoli----

-------------------del piero-------------------------

Whenever Miccoli came on last night he played very high on the left, like henry sometimes does, pessoto i thought was great, thuram was good in the centre of defence and made it more solid alongsie legro and birindelli should be able to keep up with the pace of luquie (spelling). This formation hasn't really worked in the past but we need tachi and tudor playing more defensivly, the front 4 should be enough.

I was suprised camo wasn't playing last night, he was great against bologna.

There is a tiny part of me that actually wouldn't mind us going out - just so that Lippi and Moggi can't try and ignore the fact that we need some new quality players. If we do go out now, they'll be forced to perhaps do something special on the transfer market.

Obviously it'll be bad for us now, but it might be just what we need for the future or our long term success.

Having said all that, I would much prefer we went through and on to lift the cup - but if we do go out, there may be a silver lining (if you look hard enough!).

i woud much rather us go through. The feeling you get when Great names are bought in the summer is nothing compared to the feeling that you get seeing Juve wining the CL, or any other trophy or comp. for that matter.
But yes we do need new signings, but Lippi and Moggi i think will find this out if we stay 3rd or below in the league.

Check this:
Moggi: "I heard somebody talk about Davids last night and I want to say that he is a great player but we certainly don't miss him".

THIS TEAM SUCKS !!!!!!!!!

I cannot believe what I saw.......

That had to be one of the top 5 WORST performances that I've seen Juve ever play !!!!

No defense, no midfield, and NO offense !!!!!!

Let me get this straight, Monaco puts 7 past Depor, and our Italian "champions" cant even get one ???? WHAT THE F**K !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have seen amateur teams pass the ball better than our pathetic team

Out-muscled, out-hustled, out-played......END OF STORY !!!!!!

Our only 2 chances of the game saw DP miss an absolute sitter, and Miccoli choke on a breakaway..... What gives ???

Lippi said our guys were concentrating on the CL, but thats complete bullshit !!!!

So much for the away goal, Lippi, whats your next move ???!!!

P.S.- thanks for throwing away Davids, that was the bonehead move of the season !!!!!!
