Not nice, the pot 1 wont be the biggiest/best clubs seeded anymore, but league champions, meaning you can be drawn with plenty of the big clubs in your group still who didnt win their league.
would have been nice if the count of league champions stopped at top 4 or 5 leagues, but opted to included portugese and russian champions also :groan:

UEFA has published Champions League regulations for next season confirming a seeding change to reward national league winners.
Top-seeded teams in eight groups will be the defending Champions League winner plus titleholders in the seven highest-ranked countries.
If the Champions League winner also wins its national title, then the eighth top-seeded team is the Netherlands champion.
That is PSV Eindhoven, which is only 30th-ranked in UEFA's club standings.
Currently, top-seeded teams are the eight highest-ranked in a five-year results cycle in UEFA competitions.
The new system should elevate league-leading Juventus and Zenit St. Petersburg, plus France's champion.
On current standings, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Porto will drop in status in the Aug. 27 draw.
Real Madrid would also drop down if Barcelona wins the Champions League and Spanish league.
Yep, now you will possibly have likes of PSV, Benfica, Zenith in same seed as you while having to possibly be drawn with Real, Atletico, City, Man U, Arsenal, Porto etc. It will be interesting, but we basically lose the advantage of being top seeded as soon as we got to it hehe.

Exactly, that's what's so annoying

Also, group stage draws have a really high probability of fucking you over now. There'll be much more group of deaths, as well as scrub filled groups in the future.

:agree:

This is what I think too. Such a bullshit system going forward. It also means that if a team like Roma, were to have won the league last year while not having to deal with the stress of European football, they'd leap all the way to pot 1 from a Coefficient ranking in the 40s or 50s. That's so lame.

It should be a combination of the two. Only if you're top 16 Coefficient ratings should winning the league get you into Pot 1. If you're outside the top 16, winning the league should get you Pot 2.
