With current distribution of money I don't need necessity for European League. Last year winner pocketed 8-9M while just entering CL group stage will get you 8-9M and up to 20-25M if you are participant from 5 big European leagues. Why not one mega CL with 64 teams?

You can implement system so that every team plays only 2 more matches than it is now, and curently thera a lot of matches in EL that nobody watches. I just see it pointless from financial aspect and can see why big Italian clubs avoid to field best players. Why would they risk an injury when the can play in Seria A and ensure CL qualification for the next season?

The CL money pool will be divided by 2. I think it was 30M for all Italian teams. We'll get 5M more
For season 2010-11 it was more than 50 million euros. Also, money is not distributed equally, but depending on last seasons rank in league. So given that we finished first and Milan second, we should get more than them. Maybe something like 60-40.

by the way can somebody explain to me how this money thing works ?
If udinese qualified how much money would we get ? And now that it is not what do we get ?
I can't give you correct numbers now. We will know at the end of the season.

In 2011 for example, the market poll for Italy was 51.8m euro. The money were distributed this way: 41% for the winner of serie A, 33% for the second placed and 26% for the third place.

When only two teams from the same country are in CL, then 57% goes to the winner and 43% for the second place.

So, if serie A has ~52m eur from the market poll, Juve will get 29.5m eur while Milan will get 22.5m. If Udinese qualified Juve were gonna get 41% instead of 57% i.e instead of 29.5m eur we were gonna get 21.3m eur. The difference is 8.2m euro. That's approximately how much we will earn from Udinese's failure to qualify.

How much are we exactly talking about?
do I look like an accountant to you, fellas, or what? :D

seriously, though, there should be more money for Juve and Milan from the CL rights for Italy, I reckon.
the 10 or so mil mentioned earlier sounds about right, I guess.

edit: ok, just saw that Alen solved the issue with his affinity to stats and such :D

I'm glad Udinese got knocked out. If they exist simply to try to make CL without ever looking to improve their squad become more competitive, they deserve not making the group stage.

Exactly. Udinese has no right being in the CL. They're a feeder club.

Juventus, Inter, Napoli would have been a great trio of Italian teams to be in CL but no Milan and Udinese had to make it. :inter:
