I really liked the idea we had in our approach but unfortunately we encountered a highly diciplined team that does not allow the opponents an inch. Even with Atletico's super defensive tactics that spreads all over the pitch we were able to hold possession but in able to beat such a fortress you only need a moment of magic. Pogba was nullified today and Tevez was played out of the game leaving Llorente all by himself to hold the ball in order to open space. Only a few times it worked and we couldn't take advantage of the situation. Only one time in the first half we were able to fill the box with players and send the ball to Evra for a cross which went good but Atletico are just too good to defend such balls. Talking about Evra who played a fantastic game today was the only one at fault for the goal allowing Juanfran all the time in the world to cross and with Caceres out it was only fortunate for Atletico to take advantage and take the shot that Lichtsteiner came late to. Without that one situation that match was destined for a 0-0, a gamble that Atletico took and paid off well.

Allegri might have made earlier substitutions but that would have only been a gamble and the way he didn't care about conceding more and just changed shape and moved forward is exra points in my book. It's a tricky situation now but I have a feeling that we can secure qualification before game 6.

The yellow cards we got in the end were rubbish.

Buffon 6

Caceres 6.5
Bonucci 6.5
Chiellini 7

Lichtsteiner 6.5
Vidal 5.5
Marchisio 6.5
Pogba 5.5
Evra 6.5

Tevez 5.5
Llorente 6.5

Pereyra 6.5
Morata 6
Giovinco N.R
See people? Another poster who understands football. Glad to see you also appreciated Llorente's effort today, JCK. He was a million times more useful to the team than Tevez.

I personally feel aswel that juve were a bit hard done by, however Athletico did played better in the second half.

While its no excuse, and had nothing to do with the eventual result of the game, i think the ref was very poor.
So do you still think Atleti doesn't make the top 5 in Europe?

I feel if anything, we should have attacked less and held the ball better between our defense and midfield, get marchisio into the game more, a point here would have been a super result

I may have to take another sabbatical from this forum. I forgot how frustrating it was reading thread upon thread of posts when really and truly there's only a few worthwhile posters on this board. Half of the people in here don't seem like they've ever watched Atletico Madrid in their life. Then there's the section that only notices flashy stuff and goals.

The stuff some of you write in this thread is just to laugh at. What, you are not happy with the game that Juve showed, were you even watching the fucking game, have you seen how shitty Atletico were? What, did you really expect that we will have 9 shot on target, when probably the best defensive team out there is playing with the bus parked infront of their goal? On some occasions Mandžukić was just 35 meters away from Atletico's goal. You people really thought that we will penetrate their midfield and defensive line?? they were letting like 4 meters between these two lines. Atletico are masterminds in closing down space in final third, and today they have parked the bus, so I am not really surprised that we did not create any chances. Atletico were as ''bad'' as we were, they were just luckier than us. Neither of both teams showed nothing today, except for amazing tactics. You are really blaming Allegri for the loss, his tactic dispay was just amazing today. If we would open our play even more, we would probably conceded even faster.

I am not saying that I am not dissapointed by our loss today, I am, I really am, but come on, Atletico were playing on the draw the same as we did, they just scored that lucky goal.

Some of you who are saying that the ref was not horrible today, you just do not know what you are talking about. The ref today was just disgusting. He did not have any criteria, sometimes he let though game to go on, on other occasions he was blowing the whistel, like girls in U12 selection were playing today. And that yellow card that Morata recieved, I have no words, and also that foul on Ansaldi on the corner line, he almost laid his body on the ball so that really nobody could reach it, and then he gets the foul, no wonder that Licht almost killed him. Also Mandžukič made like 8 fouls and he did not recieve any card, come on.

So serioulsy people, we were not bad today, so stop complaining and crying.

So what you're essentially saying is Atletico have god like powers and are perfect to the point that Juventus not registering a single shot on goal against them is good?

Might as well give every domestic and European trophy to Atletico now gents, because apparently they have transcended mere mortal teams and are at a point where they simply can not concede goals.

On another note, what was the score in matchday 1 with Atletico Madrid involved? I don't think they conceded a single shot on target there either.

Llorente is not the focal point of our attack. He is there to help in build up. The only time we could muster any sort of quick transition is when we punted it to him and he knocked it down for us.

Can you remember Tevez linking with the midfield quickly? It didn't happen. Either he lost the ball or we misplaced the pass to him. The only time Tevez found space was when Llorente knocked it on to him.

There are examples of what Llorente does that no one gives a shit about. Like when we are pinned deep on a throw-in and we blindly throw it to him. He wins a foul at half and from there AM has to back up and we enjoy possession for the next 2 minutes. What is the alternative if you don't have Llorente there? Miranda runs through Giovinco or whoever else you want there and we are fucked.

Pretty much agree with the rest, but am I the only one who thought that Chiellini was pretty bad? Not atriscous or anything, but still the worst defender of the bunch, 5.5 or 6.

The comments in this thread are really enlightening as to the people who either don't watch football or suddenly view it completely differently when Juve are playing.

Atletico won La Liga last season, nearly won the CL and have already got a draw and two wins against Real Madrid with these tactic this season.

How anyone can be surprised at how the game went or be particularly critical of Juve is beyond me.

If the ref is guilt of anything it's not allowing the game to flow. Called way too many fouls and allowed the fans and players to dictate his decisions.

I'm not surprised with Atleti, they're an excellent side. Just surprised with Juve.

The result itsself is understandable, most people accept a 1-0 away defeat to Atletico is fine

But like the Bayern games, the result is not the cause for concern here, our complete lack of attacking threat is. I expect any team from any of the top 5 leagues to register ONE shot in any game. To make one half-chance. We are just shockingly predictable at times.

Fucking thank you. I really don't get it. I just don't. Either people don't realise how strong Atleti are or they just expect miracles from Juve whenever we play. Last season's performances against Galatasaray and the other team whose name I can't spell properly were worthy of criticism. Tonight's effort in Madrid is not.

Were you streaming the game? I didn't even realize Atletico scored, before the commentators said so :D

Atleti are a top team in Europe

I don't care if people dislike their 'style' of playing

This was not some one off performance was it? They've consistently beaten teams playing exactly like they did today so that rules out a fluke defensive performance.
