Not a bad performance and Juve can feel somewhat unlucky to not get a point from the game.
Essentially, nothing happened in that game, aside from the two sides kicking lumps out of each other.
Juve had the ball for extended periods in safe areas and Atletico watched Juve having the ball in safe areas.
Sporadically Atletico upped the tempo a bit, pressing Juve and getting a few balls into the box, but nothing terribly threatening.
What I haven't made my mind up on yet is whether Juve were too cautious or if Pogba, Vidal and Tevez simply played badly. Juve aren't going to look much of an attacking threat with those three badly underperforming, so it's quite hard to judge.
I think there probably was a lack of intent from Juve when they had the ball, but that was made to look much worse due to poor individual performances.
Defensively Juve did fine, aside from the goal. Obviously Lichtsteiner has to do better there, but there was also a mistake from Evra when he went to meet a midfielder when he didn't need to. That meant Jaunfran had time to put the cross in, but it also meant Chiellini had to move towards Juanfran, which led to just about the only time in the game when Juve had to defend a cross without all three central defenders in the box.
Juve stood up to the physicality of Atletico better than pretty much anyone else I've seen.
Good games from Bonucci, Caceres and Marcisio.
Poor from Tevez, Vidal and Pogba (when Juve had the ball - they all contributed fine defensively).
Classic Atletico game in many regards. They (and Juve contributed to it greatly tonight) kill the game and back themselves to make fewer defensive errors than the opposition and to be clinical enough to take one of the very few chances that are likely to come their way. They really shouldn't be able to win as many games as they do with these tactics, but it says a lot about the lack of defenders who are able to concentrate for 90 minutes these days that Atletico do keep winning.
