Del Piero doubt for Highbury
Sunday 26 March, 2006
Alessandro Del Piero is a “major doubt” for Tuesday’s trip to Highbury after limping off with a thigh injury against Roma.

The Juventus star has barely trained all week due to a muscular problem and was surprisingly given a start against Roma at the Delle Alpi last night.

However, he pulled up with a left thigh injury and limped off after just 17 minutes of play, making way for David Trezeguet in the 1-1 draw.

“He had already struggled with a problem in that leg during the week and I have major doubts that he’ll be fit in time for Tuesday,” explained Coach Fabio Capello.

Juventus will take on Arsenal in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final at Highbury on Tuesday evening.

However, the man himself is confident that it is not a thigh strain, as that diagnosis would rule him out for two to three weeks.

“I don’t think it’s anything particularly serious,” assured Del Piero. “It’s a shame, though, as I had already recovered from this kind of thing from last week. We’ll wait and see what the tests say.”

No need to start to generalize... I respect Juve and it will be a tough match. Maybe we haven't won the CL, not even close to winning, but who knows in the future?

welll we will have a tough time against those gunners, since we had a very tough physical game against roma and they had a break cuz their game was postponded.

With the many negatives from the Roma game, i liked the way our defense and midfield played.Pressure almost everywhere on the field and tight marking on certian players like mancini and perrota.

So this made me a bit calm for the arsenal game since we could maitain this much pressure for almost 90 mins with 10 men. I know that we can't compare arsenal to roma since they have different styles.

Although am a bit concerned about fatigue, but i think we could do well in this game. And at the end of the day get a positive result.
I dont think alex would get a chance to recover from his injury, so i hope we will get him back in the 2nd leg.

We will need to maintain pressure all over the field. And try to throw them of their game by decreasing the tempo , so we will need to hold position as much as we can.
Ibra, mutu, and camo will have a big task in this game, especially in holding position in the arsenal half.

I feel sorry for you guys as Juve fans.

I mean how the hell do you manage to be awake for 90min and witness such boring football.
Yeah ur quite right considering that arsenal was probably the most boring team with george graham for a good 9yrs.i remember clearly how rival teams used to sing "BORING BORING ARSENAL" & the teams signature scoreline was 1 - 0 what a fvckin surprise.Arsenal only began to play attractive football after Arsene Wenger arrived, but then again u probably didnt even know that.
