Ciro Ferrara expected Juventus to step up against Inter and was “satisfied for a thoroughly deserved victory.”

The Bianconeri are right back in the title race and only five points adrift of the leaders after their 2-1 win tonight.

“We're clearly very happy for the victory, but stayed in the locker room to talk. We're satisfied, it was a deserved win and now we have to focus on Tuesday, that's what I told the lads,” said Ferrara looking ahead to the Champions League decider with Bayern Munich.

“To be honest, I was very relaxed tonight. During the week I didn't have to really prepare my squad, as this type of game fires them up anyway. The problem is we also need to play smaller sides and the points are worth the same. It's something we have to learn.

“I have champions in my side and they have the right tension, even if we were coming off some defeats. We gave the right response and of course particularly wanted to beat the champions of Italy.”

Claudio Marchisio got the decisive goal in the second half with a sensational Leo Messi-style piece of footwork.

“Marchisio is a very professional lad who doesn't let it go to his head. He was coming off a tough time with the injury, was cross as he lost [Samuel] Eto'o on the goal and wanted to make up for it with a fantastic strike.”

Ferrara surprised by leaving Mauro German Camoranesi on the bench to begin with in this huge game.

“I wanted a slightly different midfield, plus Camo had been playing a lot, so was a little tired. It wasn't easy and I want to thank him for accepting the decision in the right way, thinking of the team first and giving his contribution when he came on. I needed a very particular type of midfield.”

Martin Caceres also impressed in defence for Juventus and earned praise from the Coach.

“I'm happy for Martin, he was a bit lost at the start in a very new environment, but is now proving he has great strength, power and grit. I like him as a player and he's doing very well.”

The match did explode towards the end with a scuffle and Felipe Melo's dismissal, while Jose Mourinho was sent off for dissent in the first half.

“It got a little tense and there were some exchanges between the benches, but never between the two tacticians.

“I didn't see Mourinho and so we could not shake hands after the final whistle, but he came to me to shake hands before the game.”

This guy is the biggest joke, seriously. You were a great defender for us but you are a disaster of a coach. Not only could we be 11 points behind Inter and 4 behind Milan tonight but he's actually going back to the useless 4-3-1-2. I wonder what formation we can expect against Bayern Munchen? 5-2-1-2?
Who's the biggest joke now?

Stop insulting Ciro. Pay some respect.

Seriously, why do people like you always come up after a criticized player/coach play a good game? Its pathetic, this game didn't make me changing my opinion about Ciro and the whole forum were criticizing Ciro before this game.

Hopefully we can take the momentum from this match and get a string of good results going. I don't want to fire a coach in the middle of the season when we still have chances at all competitions and when we still haven't given Ciro even half a season.

Or draw, I don't care as long as we qualify for the next round. We will have plenty of time to find a working system and build some form before the round of 16
