You are mistaken, Suns...Trezeguet has been playing as a target man, not just for us recently, but throughout his career. And doing it rather well, hence his pheonmenal goalscoring record. I can agree that DP has admirable ball control, but physically he is a flower, offers nothing in the air, is easily shrugged off the ball, slower than trezeguet, weaker than trezeguet...and not a man suited to leading the line. What other teams, succesful teams, can you use as evidence that playing a flimsy flair merchant as a target man WORKS?

Not Ale isn't a Target Man. I agree with that.

He is however as fast as Trez if not faster. He's not really that slow. Not what he used to be, no, but not that slow for a 34 year old.

And finally, he is very suited to leading our line. He's been doing so for over a decade now.

I fear playing a 4-2-3-1 with Ale up front will look like that Valencia-Barca match from few weeks ago when Valencia were without Villa and Zigic while Barca were without Zlatan.
Everything was done perfect until the ball reached the box, but when it did, it was obvious how much height, muscles and the target man instincts were missed.

Del Piero never in his life played as a lone striker. You can't make him play as one when he turned 35. He doesn't have the attributes nor the experience of a lone striker to do it.

Ferrara knows this, we won't see a 4-2-3-1 with DP top, so Ferrara will either change the formation or he could replace one of the 3 AMF with Ale. This is a really difficult situation because Ale has not played well as an AMF for years, I think the last time he played that far back was Italy's home match against France in Euro 2008 qualifying and his performance was awful. IMO the 4-2-3-1 has no role for DP not even Diego's because Diego this season tracks back a lot more than a 35 year old DP can. We must bench him or find a new formation

I don't know why you guys talking about Ale as a lone striker! I think he can perform his magic in a left wide position cutting inside just like what Giovinco is doing right now.

I'm glad that with DP back, we won't see more "<- Giovinco, PDC ->" substitutions anymore.

4-3-2-1 is the best for dp and diego..but we will leave camo on the bench?..+ when we'll have all 4 strikers fit, we'll change the system again? It's a tough decision...

When Trez leaves in the summer we should ship out Iaquinta aswell, then we can get in a WC striker and bring in Immobile etc.

As much as I hate to see Ale out I don't want to see Juventus switch to a new formation. With some more time this 4-2-3-1 could really be something especially if we reinforce RB during January. The attacking trio of Camo - Diego - Giovinco supported by Momo - Melo is a top class midfield and I don't think any other formation with our available players can beat that.

We are already five points behind Inter and far from safe in the CL, we don't have the time to experiment with formations and risk dropping more points. If DP can fit in somewhere in the AMF three than I say thats his best shot, but I'm not confident he can

I didn't say he was a suitable target man. I said he's not a target man. He is suited to leading our line though. He's been doing so for years upon years. Leading the line doesn't always mean you're a lone striker.
