Spalletti has, overall, done well with the players at his disposal.

What concerns me more than Roma's dodgy defence is the fact that Spalletti has never been able to instill any real fighting spirit in the Roma team.

When things aren't going well, they don't have the ability to grind out results or to battle in games where they need to battle.

that is down to the whole roma organisation of relying on totti too much and when he is away the succumb to the pressure
but in part its spallettis fault as well

Which defense would you guys pick, Roma's or Juve's?
Zebina-Cannavaro-Chiellini-Criscito( I hope we get him back)

I would take our defence if this schenario becomes real.

Zebina-Cannavaro-Chiellini-Molinaro

Motta-Juan-Mexes-Riise

It's close but I like our CBs better

Thats because they are just Roma:p
Its not like Spalletti has the loser mentality, a la CR.
Who would prefer to draw twice than win once and lose once...
I havent seen Spalletti to give the fall back order, like CR or not to sacrifice an efficient offensive tool like Giovinco, just because a Marchionni can defend marginally better...

Our CBs and keeper, their wing-backs...
I think that Spalletti will demand better wing-backs, he is not CR!

Spalleti has done ok I guess, but definitely not great.
How would you say Ranieri has done with us then? I'd think both their achievements are somewhat comparable.

both and you can even add the help of the DM's.
There isn't much between the abilities of the individuals of the back four and Sissoko and De Rossi offer similarly good protection.

However, Juve's defensive unit is significantly better than Roma's.

Add in us having Buffon rather than Doni, and there is no comparison.

And the keepers and the defensive wingers?? Then its us hands down!!
If we sacrifice everything else to cover up for our individual weaknesses...

But the defense alone is another case...

So if we sign Spalletti we shouldn't worry too much about the defensive part right? Just do what Ferrara implemented and we're good.

If we dont buy some decent defenders, we should worry about our defensive part!
This is our greatest issue and no matter if it is masked or not, it does affects us greatly!!! No matter if our coach is called CR, Ferrara or Mourinho!

We will either concede more goals trying to use a more offensive scheme,
or we will concede less, but be forced to use less offensive units and have far less option and efficiency upfront. Just like we did with CR.
We cannot unlock the potential of our team with this defense. We have to compromise... We have compromised DC's and Giovinco's future because of that,
lets see whos next, i hope that wont be Diego...
