Ferrara ready for Juve challenge
Monday 18 May, 2009
Ciro Ferrrara has been presented as the new boss at Juventus after the dismissal of Claudio Ranieri. “Judge me on what I do.”

Ferrara was brought in to replace Ranieri after Juve's 2-2 draw allowed Fiorentina to move just one point behind the Old Lady.

Ranieri is the first Juventus Coach to be sacked in 40 years since Argentine Luis Carniglia.

“We want to thank Ranieri, but after the recent results and with Fiorentina just a point behind we have opted to put Ferrara in charge,” Jean-Claude Blanc said at Ferrara's unveiling.

“Ciro said that he was available yesterday and this morning we decided to give him the job. We will see what happens after the two remaining games of the season.

“We wanted to shake up the players and now it is up to them to show us a reaction.”

Ferrara, who played 500 Serie A games - 253 with Juventus - has been in charge of the Bianconeri's youth team since 2006 and has worked with the Italian national side under Marcello Lippi.

“The important thing is to get the players showing pride again - not much needs to be done to turn things around,” Ferrara said.

“It only takes a few small things to get into or out of a crisis. I don't think the physical side is the problem.

“It's right to look to the past, but we must remember that Juve have had to change over the last three years. However, we know that the Bianconeri need to play in the Champions League without having to play preliminaries.

“I spoke to the directors yesterday and I hope to be useful. Given my recent history in this shirt I have no doubt I can succeed.

“I have made no requests and I am completely ready to help the club as I have been since 1994. It's obvious that this is an enormously emotional moment.

“I want to be judged on what I do and my own abilities. I am not scared of putting myself out there, but it's clear that I need time to do things on a tactical and technical level.

“As for the national side, rest assured I will be available to Lippi from June 2. For now I am in charge of Juve for 15 days and then we will see.”

Osman, or any other member who follows the Primavera, what's Ciro's formation and approach?
:D

He isnt the coach, Maddaloni is (Ferrara took his coaching license only recently I think). But he has been in charge of the WHOLE youth sector and academy since 2006, plans for and organized all the age groups, hires staff (promoted the excellent Maddaloni to the Primavea seat for this season), takes care of the scouting system etc etc. You could say he is Il President of the Youth academy.

It has just been 3 years, but our youth set up has looked quite better since, and Ferrara and our investment in it is prolly the reason.

Hopefully Ferrara is a young Lippi in making:)

I'm not being biased but I honestly think Ferrara was a better defender than Maldini... who with me?
I'd rather Ferrara be a Ferrara than a Lippi.

But I'll say this much... after the past few weeks, it's become clear who wins the class battle hands-down between Ferrara and Maldini.

Ciro is honor, glory, and respect all wrapped into one. A true Juve legend.

He has a lot to prove on the big coaching stage of the full-reigns of Juve. But given my respect for the man, this is a proud day for me as a juventino. :flag1:

Forza Ciro!!!!!!!
Exactly my seniments too, I am very excited by this and hope this can be the start of something beautiful.
